About This File

This GZDoom megawad is a retrospective show of the classical Doom from the height of today's abilities of "zdoom in doom" format.

Basically it is in "zdoom in doom" format, but with some gzdoom features and DECORATE.

There are no scripts, detail is medium and jumps and crouches are not allowed for forcing you to feel Doom.

a slowgoing wad. good use of custom resources and Eternal knows how to make some very interesting encounters. certainly worth a play.

This was really, really good. Most maps could have been standalone releases, they are that good. They look really good too, as expected from Eternal. Zdoom features are used in a way that enhances level design and gameplay, not just for eye candy. Final map is a masterpiece, one of best city style maps I encountered. I played this with latest Project MSX and it fits this wad well, especially on bigger maps with more open areas.

Knowing that the author is a great mapper this wad is a bit disappointing. It's getting good with map08 (nice remake). 4/5

Great looking maps, nice use of the GZDoom stuff but with more classic-oriented gameplay (ie. pure killing stuff and switch/key finding). An impressive wad that will sadly be forgotten about by most due to the timing of it's release.

Really good and solid gameplay overall. Some weaker maps at the start, but the rest is very good. I liked it a lot, especially level 8 and 12. 4/5

Some of the use of new enemies, and one or two of the levels detract from the awesome experience that this mapset creates, with wonderful scenes, fairly solid gameplay and a boatload of new stuff to shoot. 4 stars

Pretty good mapset. There are a few duds in the mix, some of the music is annoying and I didn't really like the new enemies, but it's definitely worth playing. 4/5

New monsters does not look very good Mapping is corect but i was gladly surprised by the gameplay even if wether easy because the author does not fee forced to add stupid and unskipable texts and videos and there is no use of any scripting as says in the text file. so over all, even if it didnot remain me DooM II at all, exept when the room was a pale copy of doom2's, it is very good and worth the download. 3.5/5

First level is too hard even on "I'm too young to die" :-/, but the design is excellent. That's why 3/5.

Must play megawad! Early maps are kinda mediocre. Not bad, just nothing special and there are a few really facepalm moments (trust me, you will get stuck on map 2, and you will facepalm hard once you see "solution" on youtube!). However, as you progress maps get better and better, with great gameplay and design variations even within single maps - map 8 for example, starts as a usual switch huntey nukage fare, ends with an epic outdoors fight straight out of Serious Sam! 5/5 despite weak start

Impressive! Map 13 could have been some really good newer urban map for Duke 3D. Now THAT is how you use GZDoom!

Nice looking & well designed map set.Good gameplay with good use of new monsters.Health & ammo never really in short supply,so you could keep the game moving without dying too often. The helicopter was unexpected & the rocket ship was a nice effect,also. Definitely worth a download & a play-through. 5/5-d.d.koop

Impressive mapset, so to say. The design is getting better and better as you advance in the wad, maps 12 and 13 are among the best maps I've played so far. Definitely Cacoward material. 5/5. ~Naan

      Insanity, with voodoo dolls (see second screenshot).  I get the idea of a shooting gallery if that rocks your boat, but 6000 monsters behind railings- as far as the eye can see, FFS! My PC crawled when I looked towards the invuln spheres (someone said 32 k of them and you can't avoid picking up thousands at a time). In the end I cheated with god mode and no-clipping, and waded in among the chaingunners until I got bored.

      Simple, clearly a first wad.  All on the flat with big, brightly lit, and architecturally implausible rooms. The first map has two rooms, the second map one, and the third map one plus a kind of exit lobby. You can do one of two things - just run past the monsters and finish (I did it in 35 seconds), or have a bit of fun killing the monsters first. No noticable bugs. I hope the author will go on (or went on) to greater things.
