About This File

Urban Brawl is the prequel to Scuba Steve's: Action Doom, telling your character's history before those events. Urban Brawl embodies a comic book look and feel with cell shaded graphics and story sequences. All of this is fused with a gameplay that is reminicent of an old beat-em up game.

This is one of the most original and creative mods to come out of Doom. The graphics are unique, colorful and very interesting to look at, the level design is top-notch, the gameplay is fun and exciting and the music is really catchy. Go download this now!

"well it IS a stand-alone game with 100% original resources" I'm sorry but this doesn't change the fact that this game is FUCKING BORING. 0/5

Good resources, good maps... But it's not my style, I prefer Doom! Anyway, congratulations for your work.

1. Run forward 2. Punch 3. Run backward 4. Repeat. What's the gameplay for the next one, a turn-based RPG? This melee crap ruined the mod, which had potential riding on its back because it's the sequel/prequel/whate ver to Action Doom. C'mon Scuba, stick to what made AD1 so great.

Slightly better than the original, but still terrible. Not nearly as fun as an actual sidescrolling beat 'em up. It's also very ugly, despite all the original and mostly decent artwork. Level progression is sometimes linear, sometimes completely random; enemies are always too easy or too hard for a well-balanced challenge; and the voice acting is horribly cheesy (which isn't necessarily a problem). Plus, the product placement was pointless and annoying. I can't bring myself to rate this higher than a 1.

i'm afraid to think what scuba steve will do next... ad2 kicks every other mode roundhose and finishes with cracking a whiskey bottle on the head.

Definitely legendary. It is certainly more like a completely different game than it is an add-on for Doom, even if it's way short for a standalone. Some will find the gameplay repetitive but I thought it was cute and liked the style. The cartoonish element was the best part, and what most made it look nothing like Doom at all. I found 3 of the endings, not sure I missed any, but that certainly makes it replayable. One of the most legendary TCs ever - a classic. 5/5

Suffers from the same problems as the first installment: too short, too random, too many paths and not enough incentive (or backwards playability) to explore them all save for multiple playthroughs... why bother when you could be enjoying a newer game? What if I never played or enjoyed those old-school fighting games? Lose this dinosaur, guys. 1 star -wavelength

Really good work, but in comparison to Action Doom 1 I think it is a pitty that you decided to choose this cartoon style. Action Doom 1 is better, because of the gameplay (firing projectiles and beeing not cartoon like). All in all this would be 5/5, but because it is "Action Doom 2": only 4/5. I like the first work more :-P !

Simply awesome prequel to Action Doom. The multiple paths, range of endings, great artistic style and overall professionalism make this a 5*, and probably one of the best of this years productions

^What's your problem dude? If your wad was rejected, there was probably good reason for that (certainly not file size, as you can see from the amount of 50+MB zips on archives). This is one of finest Doom TCs, abusing it's review/comment section like that is extremely disrespectful and won't make anyone feel sorry for you.

I'm afraid that the doom engine is just not the engine for a beat-em-up at all. Just running forward, punching, and running back as fast as you can gets extremely repetetive extremely fast.

Not that great, gameplay is somewhat tedious.

It's alright but gets repetitive fast. The level design isn't coherent, and while the new graphics are gorgeous it's not enough to make you forget you're essentially walking through a corridor the whole time. On the other hand, all the new resources are top notch, the music is fantastic, the cutscenes atmospheric, it all has a very polished look to it. Shame the gameplay didn't get the same attention. 4/5

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
