About This File

Another episode 2 map replacement and so far the most challenging so far. Abyssus means "bottomless pit" in Latin. Try and find all 9 secrets if you can, as some of them will greatly help you get through some of the tougher sections of the level.

Another neat level that was again action-packed and full of surprises.

Man I wish this author would have finished this series...he had five real nice maps going then just stopped. He released E2M8 and a secret level, but hey were pretty inferior and it was clear he had lost interest. Shame. But it doesn't affect what this file is worth, a rounded five!

I loved Iconic, but this series just keeps getting better and better! A third map that perfectly recaptures that E2 style, and this one is the best yet! I found the balance to be absolutely perfect; down to the point that I had to use every last bullet and needed nearly every last health kit I found, but it was never frustrating. Very recommended, and an absolute must play for classic fans; I really can't find much in the way of any faults! I can't wait for E2M4!

Excellent gameplay, cool secret areas, difficult but not obscenely so. Very fun, 5/5. -Neon

Great successor to Stoned and Iconic. Dark, difficult and so much fun. These maps just get better and better. 5/5

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
