About This File

The Boom edition of the Selfish Series. The levels are mostly unchanged but a few textures have been aligned and some slight enhancements have been made here and there to the gameplay and architecture. An all new original MIDI based soundtrack has now been included.

These maps are really quite good. I had a really tough time with map 2 though, falling off the path and into the lava. PCorf manages to pull off some unexpected traps in a few places, and I had to laugh at myself for falling into them. Nice work!

Not bad. Better than most of this guys previous work, although it is most certainly not a 5/5 wad.

^Paul is an awesome author, doesn't deserve that type of commentary. This series actually isn't new, but it's right up to his usual high standard. 5/5!

^I disagree, some of PC's work is terrible. I remember one was trolling several members of the community (childishly because of poor reviews). This is not bad though, but I hope he spent more time on whispers of satan.

Some of it is terrible. Well 3-4 years ago I was suffering from mental sickness and depression and released alot of crap out there like New Adventure. But honestly I was feeling really bad with my life and I had no ideas and didn't know where I was going. Thats why I decided to create WOS which is nearly done, then its retirement from mapping. No more comments. -Paul. C [2.9.09]

I played it for a third time. I still like it. I like the elements in Paul Corfiatis levels. Good balance of architecture, gameplay, size. Normal detail that is so well made that makes a good atmosphere. Nice places to stare at. Not too hard gameplay yet a lot of good action and some traps. Levels that finish nicely and soon without being annoying. 5/5 - Optimus

It's.. *sniff* beautiful! ...Ok, now on to the serious comment. This is a small map pack by PCorf, with relatively small-mid sized maps. They are non linear but nothing that'll get you lost. Loved every single map, except for a few fights that were insane. Excellent work and a must have. 5/5 - Moti

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
