About This File

32 Level Megawad for use with Doom2. Hopefully a fun packed collection of mainly small to medium sized maps.

DWMegawad club is currently acting very sniffy about this level set but I think it's aces! always thought MAP 29 was a masterpiece in particular

Pretty good. But could've really used some custom music.

There are some maps which are questionable (map18 with stealth, poor architecture in map24, insane secret hunt in map32), but especially the middle episode with its amazing city maps make D2R highly enjoyable. When using PSX music/sfx, you can gain another considerable atmosphere bonus. The levels fit the original Doom II storyline, map sequence actually makes sense and you feel like accomplishing something. Outstanding one-man project anyone should play. 5/5 - NightFright

Very difficult to judge as a whole. MAP21-29 are great, MAP30 is as bad as any other Icon of Sin fight and a lot of the earlier maps ranged from awful to alright. I guess on the whole that makes it average. Took so long to beat I honestly can't remember half of what I've done. 3* - Phobus

This badboy used to be hugely popular on zdaemon (still is, just not as much), I must have played through this pack about 10 times if I add all the time spent playing together. :) 5/5 - very fun, nice new textures, interesting secrets and fights. Difficult to see anything bad about it. Loved the last episode!

Sometimes the detail is lacking, however this megawad has more good levels than bad. The above poster is correct, the PSX music wad really sets the mood. Give these levels a try!

5/5 This is one of best megawads I‘ve ever played. Especially „Mars base“ levels are incredibly designed, with their own inner logic. I really love m03 – When the blue keycard disappeared in the kitchen, I almost felt like hell itself was playing some dark twisted game with me. „Earth levels“ finally look like they are on Earth. Hell levels are imho the weakest part of this mod, although still better than average. I probably expected more of "hell like" levels rather than "dark temple" styled ones.

This is quite a fun mapset to play through, IMO not what DooM 2 should have been, but a solid one man megawad which is good in it's own right. An easy 5/5 - DeathevokatioN

Inconsistent. But some of the later maps especially are excellent, such as map29. 4/5

This is what Doom 2 should have been in the first place. It's set on Earth. It's in a city. Not that... whatever it was that Id passed off to us as Earth. However, the Arch-Vile level is practically unbeatable if playing with Doom Enhanced. The crushers killing 96 Arch-Viles at once generates too many blood and gib pieces for the engine to handle. Not the author's fault, though.

4/5 Some of the first maps are subpar, but the wad as a whole is very good.

Whole megawads are always appreciated, but no, this is not what "doom 2 should have been".

The weakest parts overall occur early on. Most of the later maps are definitely worth the look. The first couple maps aren't horrible, just maybe a bit meh, but possibly even those squeeze in as average. Considering this one top of being a first effort, four stars is a given. Worth a look!

I just love it. Lots of effort into detail and an immersive feel. Definately my new favorite WAD.

Great one! I quite enjoyed it but fails to be classic doom styled! What I mean is that uses textures of real people. still 4/5

The designs of the two secret levels were not to my liking, but otherwise this is 5/5 all the way.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.
