About This File

You find yourself on a wide plain beneath a towering marble castle. There is an exit nearby but a fearsome demon guards it. The exit may also be locked. You would do well to search the castle for advanced weaponry to help get past the beast, but alas, the castle is locked. Ahead you see a frontal fortification that is heavily protected, but which may be worth investigating if you are to escape this dangerous situation...

I get that it's using JUST Doom 2 textures, but there is still a lot of clashing looks going on. SLAD amongst Marble, Blackwall... there's just way too many styles. Plays okay... nonlinear and all, but at the same time, there's so much space that one can avoid almost ALL confrontation, even getting to the exit. Meh.

Sorry, it was quite bad (Annoying actually with all these huge places and full of monsters, although I think it's possible to beat it but I didn't bothered). 1/5 - Optimus

This map was fun to play. Level design was interesting, nice and open. Texuring was messy, proper aligning would have made it more pleasing for the eyes. All in all worth an go. 3/5 -DD

Only one complain : IT'S PAIN MY ASS TO FIND WEAPONS AND NOT ENOUGH AMMO!! Not bad for a killing monsters-style map and map layout is decent but...*sigh* monsters/wepaons placement need some work. 2/5 -playerlin

Not that bad a play. i like the open areas and running around enemies until they kill each other off. pretty easy, but I'm ok with that. 3.5/5

Nice map, but if there was a rocket launcher it certainly wasn't easy to find, and ammo only seemed to be in good supply when I didn't need it anymore. I'd have liked it a lot more if the way to get over the back where the cyberdemon is was a bit more obvious instead of a small indentation in an otherwise long, featureless rock. 3* -Phobus

It's not a very good map, by any means, but the /newstuff review was on the harsh side. Not really recommended, but it does make the mediocre category. 2.25/5

A nice big map with a lot going on. It's the antithesis of simplicity and straight-forwardness , but this is not a bad thing if you can keep your wits about you. -- Chris

You're... not really supposed to jump in a vanilla / limit-removing map. That shouldn't be anything new for someone who keeps with Doom actuality since 10 years. :) As for the map itself, it's fun for a quick playthrough but not much more than that. That's not to say it's bad, but it could be better. 3/5

IMO: Too big, not enough ammo, you could replace all the individual barons with multiple Hell knights/ Hell Knight and smaller enemies, some places too cramped. But nice challenge. -3/5

wow. The most underrated wad of the century. ***** 5 stars hands down. This is an awesome wad. Everyone needs to put the haphazard texturing aside and discover the gem gameplay that is in this map. Learn a new style of gameplay. This map puts you on the run, but just run around pot shotting--keep it up--you'll get there. It's great fun! It's a genius layout, and very unique. The best avant garde map.

There is some lack of detail just when you come away from start point??? Well, the bad thing was that the Level didnt have title/ending pic, music or Boss.

I find this map just below OK. Too ugly (and I like old school maps), and not enough good gameplay, even though it has some ok enough sastuff. 2/5

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
