About This File

This was designed to be a difficult map. I got my inspiration for this map from maps 23-25 of Scythe2, the last episode of Scythe, The last 4 maps of AV, map14 from CC1, map32 from CC2, and map25 from CC3. I know it's a long list, but all influenced at least some aspect of the map.

yeah I gotta admit, this one's pretty good too. apparently it's not a speedmap, but it damn sure got inspired by a lot of hard levels we all know and love. if it attempted only to do that and make a hard level that has similar aspects to those many maps, it succeeded, even though the level itself isn't gonna be as memorable, it is still a fun, tough challenge map. hone your skills with this map.

Grime looks like a more hellish version of Scythe 2's map 25 mainly because it uses an altered and darker version of the music "Intolerance" from Seiken Desentsu 3 and it was heavily inspired from Scythe 2 Map 23-25 . I actually found Grime way easier than Erik Alm's map . The health and ammo were indeed quite plentyful and above all Grime doesn't have those annoying and overpowered space marines. Inversely , Grime has more high-tier monsters but you can make them easily infight.

It doesn't figure among my favourite maps from Death-destiny but that remix of "Intolerance" is fucking awesome. :)

A masterclass in entertaining encounters and engaging, challenging gameplay. Item and monster placement is borderline perfect.

Less experienced players should take advantage of the well-implemented difficulty settings - don't miss out through being stubborn if UV is too difficult for you!

Pretty darn good indeed, but I think there's a lack of ammo, this kind of gameplay and having to be careful on ammo doesn't fit together.

A really strong level. Challenging gameplay, balanced ammo and monsters, excellent progression through the map. A classic deserving of 5 stars. -TRRobin.

This is the hardest map I have played through yet! I spent around 2 hours playing, and by the end I only had about 25 minutes of actual game time. Yup, I died a lot. Great looking map and the music was nice as well. 5/5

"Legendary" in every sense of the word. Amazing map with well-implemented skill levels to appeal to a very wide range of Doom players. Incredibly well thought-out fights with a surprising amount of variety in the action despite the reliance on a few familiar monsters - geometry and layout here are brilliant. Despite the texture alignment (or lack thereof), the level also looks excellent, with a striking color scheme and amazing architecture. One of the best.

Even for a seasoned doomer, this will put some serious hair on your balls/ovaries. It's not a map with 2000+ enemies that come at you like russian conscripts with peashooters, its a map with ball-busting traps, flanks, fucks, and archvilefucks. Lots of archvilefucks. Prepare for death within a few seconds if you're using a mod with reloading(unless there's stupidly op weapons). That said, this map deserves every star it gets --- 5/5 Bukkake Windmill

I am more of a casual player (read: I suck), so I will not judge the game play, though it was fun with god mode on :P. Anyway, it is a beautiful level, both architecturally as in texturing. I would really love to see some demos though, especially pacifist or Tyson. 5/5

Very nice map, but very difficult. The easier skill levels plays exceptionally good though.

I like it. I like the jungle/hell theme and how the design stick together. Maybe I suck but some fights in cramped areas were quite unfair for me and Arch-villes make it even worse. :) But overall this deserves attention. 4/5 - Damned

This is dated June 2008. It's one of those ultra-hard levels in the style of Hell Revealed, whereby you save the game, fight a bit, die, reload, fight a bit more, etc. On UV I got tired of it quickly; I chickened out and played it on HMP and it was great fun. The design is classic hell-themed, surprisingly small but every step has a trap; you can cheat the final battle a bit by dropping back into the lava and waiting for the baddies to infight.

I have a real blast while playing this megawad. Think that Quake is not brown enough? You will get the ultimate browness here. I think that, beside the simplistic ugliness of it, it gives a good cohesive look to all the maps. And this one are really big and fun to explore. The ideas of cities, fortresses, islands, canyons and caves, and finaly tech base on moon, are really neat and some looks really good. The story of the wad is pretty good, too. I love the liberties that the author takes while doing this mapset. As i played a lot and i found this kind of ideas in a few wads along the way.
What i didn't like it much, is that there wasn't other skies than the episode one sky from Doom 2. Again, i think it is that way for a cohesive storytelling, but anyway, it would be cool to feel the sense of time in the maps with different skies and shadows deploying in differents ways along the maps.

This could be the Eternal Doom of doom stock textures, but the linearity of the maps, aside from the somewhat empty but interesting areas to explore, departs slighty from the formula, and there are not soo much details as one might expect from a mapset like this. Don't get fooled by that, even with the somewhat Heretic-like linearity, the maps are fun, gorgeous in its brownway and pretty challenging.
I recommend this megawad to anyone that likes to explore and have a challenge in the vein of the best of team TNT mapsets.

I liked it better than Claptrapino. Maybe because I'm a novice level maker too. Obviously it's the work of a newbie, but I absolutely understand how it might have taken 10+ hours. I think I've spent at least that long and haven't even completed any levels yet.   I actually thought it was an interesting basic concept to start in the middle of a maze, with areas you've previously cleared not guaranteed to be safe anymore with the portals and spawns. I died twice in my attempts and finished the third time. When I realized that staying in place, conserving resources and clearing wasn't working I took the invulnerability and just ran through the halls spraying high damage weapons.   The level did seem unfinished though. What are the keys for? Are there secrets in the level that contain locked doors?

Yes, this is a legendary megawad. Yes, there is a lot of positives to say about it.
But I can't ignore the button madness present in many levels. In the second half of the games this gets utterly insane - you WILL spend most of the time bashing and shooting every inch of every wall to find yet another hidden switch to be able to progress. Many switches open hidden doors in an unrelated location on the other side of the level without even telling you. Some levels have switches completely invisible and one of them even hides switches in random decoration sprites like trees. I'm sorry but this was no fun and in the end it ruined the entire megawad for me.

Now this wad is sorta conflicting, for one if you suffer from any of the following problems: lack of ammo, regenerating health, the maps, multiple deaths. You can't play doom for shit but the i also have issues with this wad.   1. The doom 3 type design disgusts me, mainly because i don't like doom 3 that much   2. I hate the painkiller esque moments   3. It's unfinished and dead   That's all.   RATING:3/10

Pretty awful: uninspired, square layouts; boring, repetitive hordes; bad map design which leads to accidental telefragging by monsters; questionable sound design. Half of the time in a map is spent trying to figure out where to go in the map because the automap does not work and there is little sensible layout of the maps (plus some access points are hidden and difficult to discern). Earns 1 star just because of decent graphics, but that's about all that's decent in this wad.
