I am at map 26 currently, but I love the detail that was put into this and the gameplay works really well, despite it being symmetrical at some points. The level design was good enough, that I didn't notice it at some points. 5/5 - BlazingPhoenix

Some levels look great while others are mediocre, sometimes bit too much symmetrical copy/paste architecture. Gameplay is somewhat annoying, shotgunners/chaingun ners are overused and you have to allways look after them so no fun double barrel action just plasma/chaingun scouting. Overall 3/5. Worth a try. -MaxSpeeD

I had fun with this one!Not to overly difficult that I wanted to keep playing and not quit. Levels well designed and visually pleasing enough that linearity and symmetry were not a distraction. Missed alot of secrets due to being htf/obscure but enough ammo/health around that I didn't need/miss them much. This one goes in my personal archive. Thanks for all your hard work and effort PC and Kristian, this is an excellent swan song!5*-d.d.koop

Copy-pasta, symmetry and repitition are the main sins of this project, with one or two dodgy traps and some odd balancing at times. However, it is still also bulging with quality and many good ideas, so it definitely gets 4* minimum -Phobus

I can't be able to play this wad on ZDoom. Why? Excellent megawad though. Overdetailed much, but still relives the classic feel. I give it 5 out of 5. T-Rex

Just wow! Best megawad I've played in a long, long time. Great action and brilliantly designed maps. This one's a classic. 5/5

I agree with the review some places above that asks, seriously is everyone basing their review off of the first couple? The symmetry is only enough to taint things significantly in maybe five or so maps. It's a minor blemish at most in all other cases. And there's plenty of very good levels throughout the wad. Not perfect, but great megawad is great. 4.5/5

It was great until I got tired of ctrl+v and constant, predictable ambushes. Seriously, there is a better way to monster layout, and this wad's authors don't know it. But it was fairly enjoyable, nonetheless, so 3 stars.

A good mapset. There's too much symmetry and copy/pasted sections in a fair number of the maps, and the whole hit multiple switches to open door/lower key/raise bridge scenario gets a bit tedious after the umpteenth time. Still, there are a number of good maps and the difficulty level is quite well balanced, not too difficult but not overly easy. 4/5 FP

This is an incredible megawad, and finally one of the few that doesn't put gigantic squads of Revenants or billions of Cyberdemons in your way. The levels are well-detailed and somewhat interesting, but from time to time the levels get monotonous and repetitive, and though I like the pacing, I think it's a little slow. Even though, I liked it very much. 5/5

Agree with MaxSpeeD. There's a bit too much difference between level quality, but give the map set a go when you have time.

Finally completed the complete set. It was good fun. Some parts I found a bit frustrating, especially some encounters with too many chaingunners, but overall the difficulty felt right. However, while the maps are very beautiful, there is not much memorable, no sceneries that stay with you, except maybe some of the later hellish maps. 4/5

Even though this was not as fun as 2002:ADO, this was still a solid mapset. 4/5

Certainly a high-quality mapset. Mad props especially for map32, the secrets were the most fun part.

I wonder how many reviewers have based their ratings solely on others' reviews. I see some ctrl+v in the maps, and I also wonder if I'd see it if I wasn't warned SUPER fucking thoroughly by the comments before. The mapset is wonderful, from the first map to the last. Five stars.

The way Doom 2 meant to be. Pure essence of 'Hell on Earth' with better maps and gameplay. GJ.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
