Necropia Zone is the kind of wad you'd probably want to play on a day where you drink so much, decide to put on god mode and infinite ammo as well as idfa or whatever (you're supposed to play ZDoom as the text suggests) and just go to town, and even after you manage to do all of that, the wad STILL is not fun.

this wad is a big shit. no amount of custom assets can save it. as a matter of fact I think some of the assets may actually be stolen. we see new weapon sprites, apparently taking after Quake or some other wads, like DSV. in fact, I'm reminded heavily of Kaiser's DSV wads, although frankly there wasn't a single instance of fun as compared to those. the level layouts of the 32 maps are large, many are open fields where you slaughter hundreds of monsters. except the problem lies in that there's almost no encounters that are fun in any way whatsoever. there's gonna be hordes of one type of monster in front of you, or in places that have inescapable pits that really don't have any merit. there's gonna be loads and loads of snipers from afar, and the hassle of having to normally aim is something I don't like. plus having to actually jump for a few maps. you barely have any idea of what you're really supposed to be doing while distracted with enemies too. and the map designs just use the custom textures in huge expanses but don't do them properly. in fact, I recognized MAP15 from a different wad (possibly DSV since they use the same resources), and it's almost completely the same thing as in that wad.

some people have really warped perceptions on what they consider fun. the author of this wad apparently made several others that are "packs" and some have 96 levels. I'm not even sure if this author can be considered a map author with that regard, or especially with what I said with MAP15 above. you can have the challenge of fighting hundreds of monsters, but the fights HAVE TO BE INTERESTING. if they bore me, which they easily did map for map here, then there's no way this deserves any score above 1/5.

This would be a good megawad if wasn't marred by bad health/power ups balance throughout. The high difficult stems of this, as an example MAP 16 where there're 642 monsters (being a bunch of revenants, mancubus, archviles, etc) and you have only 4 medikit and 4 stimpacks in the whole map, that's it. No green/blue armor and no powerup of any kind. And unfortunately this happen in all maps, so either the player has to save scum (because he can't afford lose health) or play with respawn items. If the author knew how balance properly the levels (as the big majority of megawad I've played) this would be way better.

Please don't use custom weapons unless they actually look and sound good (these don't). Also, if you replace the shotgun, replace its muzzle flash as well, please.

I hate to be an ogre but the weapons look like ass and the difficulty is too high. Otherwise I see some neat potential in this megawad. 4/5

Level design is neat and quite simplified, difficulty is too high (kinda sucks, even on very easy), need to use better kind of weaponry (with reloading action as well)...other than that, pretty good overall. - 3 starts

Some levels has challenging, but most levels are boring like playing shit, just like throw shitload of monsters all over the levels and put shit load of weapons/ammo, its placement just random...It's too easy get boring if you don't like this type of levels. Those new weapons looks like crap, fail as f***ing shit. BTW, sv_fastweapons 1 can make some fun on this WAD. :p Sorry, it should be did better... 2/5 -playerlin

Average looking and playing maps, not as impossible as some people make them to be but not particularly fun either. The .txt could really use some credits5 for the included resources, starting from the Eternal Doom status bar graphics. 3/5 -Maes

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
