About This File

Claustrophobia 1024 2 is the community-made sequel to Claustrophobia 1024 which was released in June 2009. It's comprised of 34 brand-new maps restricting the player's movements to a 1024x1024 space. Decoration and monsters were allowed outside of this 1024 squared area. The player is allowed outside of the 1024 boundary given he is killed instantly. The focus of the project was to create a set of fun, quick & good looking maps while being able to work within the boundaries that were set. All of the maps were made to be played pistol start but it also plays just as well map-by-map.

well, I think this was better than 1024clau.wad. there's less bullshit scenarios of monsters teleporting all around me, and the fights were a bit more fair. still horribly cramped though. Impboy and Daimon had the best maps IMO.

This shows that a great map does not always have to be big. There's tons of detail packed into a tiny 1024x1024 square. And even more for the areas that cannot be accessed outside the 1024 space. Although the maps are a bit linear, these maps are quite fun, and challenging. This is definitely a project that should be revisited within the next couple of years. ~Hank

While being rejects would seem to imply inferiority to the original CL1024, it's really only slightly inferior, IMHO, and well worthwhile. I like it over any non-Claustrophobia I 1024 wad, and I am a fan of the idea so that's not an empty statement. I'd argue both CL1024 wads should have at least gotten honorable mention in the years' cacowards.

A must-play, map flow (in terms of themes) isn't as good, but othersie if you liked Claustrophobia 1024 (1), you'll like this.

It doesn't have as many really good maps as CL1024 (1), but it has some very nice ones. The last level, for once, is actually unique! This adds to the score a bit of course. Overall worth it prett well.

To the first guy, you are supposed to play each map from pistol start. Definitely a higher quality collection of maps than the first awful 1024 megawad, and even better than the second one. I'd give this 4 but damage effect on the new palette is so goddamn annoying. 3/5

5/5 Can't say whether it's better than 1024Clau or not. Anyway it's far superior to Congestion 1024. Good job guys ! 2010 is sure starting well with such releases.

LOL! The end of MAP30 was like: Romeroes VS Barrels VS Doomguy The barrels explode, kills doomguy, and kills the romeroes. The map ended, which means DOOMGUY WINS!!!!!!!!1!!!!!11 !!!!

Damn, this is a nice wad ;) I just played throw the first 30 maps and I didn't get bored, these maps are non-linear and that is what I like about maps ;) My only concern is that some of the maps were too short(like 2 or 3 maps I think) but it was good any way ^^

Cramped is the name of the game ; or at least, it feels most mappers thought that way here. Lots of maps just look like a normal-sized map compressed in a 1024x1024 space, ending with absurdities like 64-96 pixel wide hallways and stairs filled with monsters and detail. Detail that is often pointless and actually detract from gameplay (getting stuck in detail, hard to see important stuff, clashing colors, you get the idea). Basically, a lot of 2/5 maps and a few 4/5 maps, so 3 stars.

A worthy sequel to the first Claus1024. The wad itself features some great maps, map30 for example deserves a 5/5 on its own, same goes to Map32. Has some brilliant ideas right there and some lesser/cramped maps. A must play for everyone who enjoys a good challenge. 5/5 - Moti

Pretty good, mostly well put together... but its just too frustrating half of the time due to the length of play time and number of monsters that the mappers try to force into the time restrictions. 4* -Phobus

Although the Scythe series is my favorite Doom series out, this doesn't fall far behind. Very fun series. 5/5. -HFR

A wad mainly consisting of maps that weren't considered good enough for the original Claustrophobia 1024. As such, it's mostly not very good. Cramped layouts that feel like normal-sized maps squashed into a tinier space, ugly texturing, obstructive detail in areas that are already too cramped...skip this one and play the real deal.

Falls a little short compared to its predecessor. Levels are less spectacular and harder in general. Especially the last three maps are tough, regardless on which difficulty level you try. Archviles, Mancubi and Revenants are almost everywhere. It's still fun, but you get the feeling it could have been better if it didn't (partially) consist of "2nd choice" maps which didn't make it into the first part. 4/5 - NightFright

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
