About This File

For ten years the whereabouts of the Doom Space Marine were unknown. Following Hell on Earth he simply vanished, leaving the Quake Marine to defend Earth from the forces of evil. In the year 2145 he finally returned, with the rank of Corporal, to do battle with the demons that threatened to overrun Mars City. But where had he gone? Why was he absent for so long when his skills were needed the most? Official UAC spokespeople maintained that he was unavailable for mental health reasons, and after securing Mars City for the second time he was quickly and quietly retired, with strict orders not to discuss either of his missions or the missing years in between. The truth, it seemed, had been buried.

Until now.

When cyber-pirates cracked the quantum encryption on a media cube purported to contain blueprints for an experimental tachyon drive, they instead found over eight million hours of archived security holo-footage from a secret prison on Titan. Far from being unavailable for "mental health reasons", the footage revealed that the Doom Space Marine had been imprisoned by the very agency he had helped to rescue - UAC. Now, for the first time, the details of his imprisonment and harrowing escape are being made public. Neuro-implant formats of the footage are not yet available, but if you have access to an external Doom viewer and do not have a heart condition then you can experience the terrifying ordeal for yourself.

A 199x feel, shitty layout(but architecture and detail are good), gameplay isn't bad, but if you go wrong route, you may run out of ammo in UV. 3/5 -playerlin

Straight outta 1997 and it shows. A techbase full of TNT-style "realistic" architecture including consoles, fires, mess hall, church, shuttle and the ever-ubiquitous toilets. Some clever use of detail in places though often just ends up looking messy as the original textures are crammed into something they aren't meant to be. Some needlessly tedious use of sectors and their effects. Probably would of been fun 13 years ago but just dated and annoying now. 2/5 j

It's a 1995 WAD. A decent 1995 WAD, but still a 1995 WAD.

No, it was Duke Nukem who cracked the media cube not the cyber pirates. He spread the rumour about the cyber pirates to put Commander Keen of the scent. BTW I have just finished watching the eight million hours of footage and at the end DSM escaped the jail and made it to the spaceship but couldn't leave because it the button didn't work.

This is dated February 2010, although it's actually from 1997 (and feels even older than that). It's a sort-of E1-style prison level, with an initially baffling prison escape that involves climbing on things like a monkey, and then there's a kind of combination lock puzzle. 196 mostly weak baddies, not bad fun overall but the puzzle elements (and the tunnels!) bring the flow to a halt. Has some buggy vents too, but the spaceship at the end is clever.

Greatest ideas / design in doom WAD since a long time, although a little too crumbed places and annoying with the supposly "digging" sectors. 4.5/5 - Optimus

I liked this. Although it took 13 years two PhDs ect, ect, I think it was fun, and although old I think it deserves some respect. Sure there's a bad spot here and there, but it was overall enjoyable. 4/5 ~Joe Anderson

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
