Nice map with fun hectic gameplay and cool looking mostly non-orthogonal geometry. The repetitive door traps get a bit old though.

That's a pretty good attempt at creating something different than your common maps. I really liked the architecture and found it also challenging (ammo is so so but not annoying). Too many traps but they work very effectively. Should I just use the jump key to go outside area? (I always has that annoying dilemma in such situations: Do the author allow jumping or should I search for a secret way to that place?). There should be some exit sign warning when passing through the end line though. 4.5/5 - Optimus

dunno why everyone's being such an a-hole about this one. it's not great but it's more interesting then a typical map. 3.5/5, bumped up to 4 to compensate for the poor reviews.

I normally wouldn't rate something like this 4 stars, this is a 3 star level, but coming from you this is almost legendary status! Action packed and a bit on the tough side I hardly even noticed the texture themes or lack thereof. I'm impressed!

1) 32000 thing 2) awful, tight layout (try to fuck with fastmonsters yourself) 3) as always, uninteresting, dull design - unnatural curved walls everywhere, poorly textured into depressing brown gamma. cjwright79 - you are hopeless.

Yeah, better than most of your other stuff, but still pretty loaded with problems. Cramped, thanks to monster density. It's just chock-full of brown and no other colors, which of course makes it bland as can be. Also, the same trap is repeated over and over and over. On the whole shot, this needs more variety: height, space, color, and traps... Meh.

Unlike many others I dont mind the texturing. A little more height variation wouldnt hurt though. A few flaws but none too serious, and maybe some of the rooms/hallways should have been a tad more open/wide/spacious. Anyway I liked the map as it was full of action and it was (like all of your maps) pretty old school, which I like. I`ll throw a 4 this time, even though it isnt "pretty darn good", but its better than average, since average is plain boredom. -Darkened Reaver

Normally I would say this map is alright. Perhaps 3.5ish. However, the author's grueling attitude drops that score quite a bit lower.

      Consists of some rooms to be opened in key sequence from a central area. Doors are narrow and each reveals a row of monsters waiting for you, and you don't have enough ammo (I had to cheat). No atmosphere, bright lighting, and mostly Wolfenstein-ish cuboid rooms. Technically OK, with minor texture mis-matches. At least his own summary was modest.   Give it a miss.

      cannonball is yet another mapper who will probably take some getting used to when it comes to his maps. I remember hating on Return to Hadron when I first played it, but after subsequent plays it got easier. the same can be said for a lot of his other wads.   while this is my first time playing through Sparta 2, I easily got into cannonball's playstyle. his architecture style is always the same, as are his usage of monsters, basically you'll be running around often in the heat of monsters; the space is wide enough to accomodate this kind of playstyle and you just gotta be quite wary of where projectiles are flying. even if the monster count is low the layouts make things rough. but overall, what I like most about cannonball's maps is how well they can be run through. sure, you're gonna be dealing with a fuckload of carnage in these maps, but they all are very speedrun-friendly which is a plus. notable maps include:   MAP08, which is probably the roughest start in the wad MAP12, which has a false sense of security with its monster count. the two slaughter finales which are both well done.

      I don't pretend to understand any of the promotional material accompanying this map, relating to wizards and the like, and it just seems like a typically unsubtle early offering, albeit on a grand scale. One of the reviews says you can't get out of the Cyberdemon arena once you've teleported into it near the start, but the bad news is that you can. The final room with the Spider Mastermind is quite lively and entertaining, if you persevere that far.   The version of this I played was a Doom 2 conversion, which ran in the MAP10 slot, with some Revenants, chaingunners and Pain Elementals, but if you download the one on this page you'll probably get the original wad.
