About This File

The archive contains the maps, sent on competition which was held in iddqd.ru on July, 7-24th, 2010. The idea of competition was that the map, created by the random map generator, is being improved and modified by each participant of competition under the port chosen by participant himself. Surprises and unusual decisions were welcomed as well. Thus the participant can map game zones only within a rectangle outlined around of an initial map. Behind its limits, it was allowed to do decorative landscapes and technical sectors. Also all initial map's vertexes should have been invariable.

Maps are published with some minor alterations (basically - removing found bugs and improvement of game balance).

Shadowman's map is best IMO (quite original concept!), Dragon Hunter's is good classic fun too. Others are passable.

It is the best map and the most creative, but originality means nothing and genericity means everything in terms of popularity contests...a great set of maps though.

It's very interesting set of maps. There are maps with different styles. I like own map - fm5_nil.pk3, but others interesting too. I recommend to look necessarily maps fm5_shad.wad and fm5_gst.wad, they are very unusual.

"You piked the alien flower!" Um. Sure. What a goofy level. Tight and jampacked with monsters, the Alien Flower level is different. Not in a bad way, but not totally great either. Haven't played the others. Maybe will/maybe won't.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
