About This File

A 21st century DooM 2 episode that is big, innovative, good-looking, and of course, HARD! This wad features desert and mountain levels, and there are plenty of levels beside the sea. There are also city levels and hi-tech levels. But - every style is represented here, even if it is only 1 level! (except the Spirit-World style)

For those of you who like secrets, there are at least 3 in each level (except 25-27 and 29-32 where there are none). And you'll be pleased to know that the secret levels are VERY well hidden........

This episode combines the speed and fast-paced action that makes DooM so special with the realistic world-like adventure of newer games like Quake 2 and Half-Life.

This is one of my favorite wads. One level follows onto the next the challenge is good enough (at least for me) its got good detail but not extreme vrack-style loads of its. The ending is really well thought up. Overall pretty good. 5/5 IMO -Dron

"One man shouldn't be doing a 32-level megawad all by himself." - Why not? I enjoyed the continuity between the levels, I found the openness of the wad quite refreshing. I didn't enjoy levels 29 and 30 as much as the others. I played levels 31 and 32 standalone but whilst good looking, I didn't enjoy the gameplay as much. I was also pleased that it didn't degenerate into a slaughterfest as so often happens with other megawads, especially those by multiple authors.

Not a lot to like here. A handful of OK maps buried in a sea of absolute dreck. The last third of the wad was particularly awful - just skipped through that in unfounded optimism there would be at least one map that was interesting/playable. A last resort mapset when you have nothing else to play.

This needs a warning label - it has one of the most annoying "enhancements" ever to stain Doom. A countdown timer. I just abandoned the level when I noticed it. Also first hall you enter has a dozen Hell Knights and god knows how many Imps, while you have a single shotgun and a dozen shells. This kind of crap makes me want to punch my screen. So you've been warned.

I always felt like the vanilla Doom II experience was lacking a certain little something. Stick it in your GZDoom's "skins" directory, you will never regret it. True magnificence is something which chases you around.
