About This File

Story: After the lifeless bodies of D'sparils body guards crumble and fall to the ground, for the first time in ages you feel a sense a sense of relief... as you enter the portal that finally takes you... home?

This is a challenging map for Heretic, and your gonna need to keep moving as well as taking full advantage of artifacts if you want to survive.

I decided to touch up on an old map, add a few areas and release so that it didn't just gather dust on my hard drive. I might release another bigger, and more epic Heretic map in the future to go alongside this one, but we'll see how things go. :)

Pretty much the perfect Heretic map. Nothing about it is incredibly grandiose, it's just good simple fun. The gameplay is a bit tough, but totally fair. There's enough ammo & breathing room that it feels satisfying to clear out each room. The architecture & lighting are in the classic E1 style, but a bit better detailed, with some nice directional shadows. The level design is simple (just one key required), but manages to be non-linear in a rewarding fashion. Even the secrets stood out as nice. Really, its only crime is being too short.

Short map with simple layout - there is not much to do. Ambiance is ok but not special. Gameplay @ UV is not difficult, strafing is the way to go; ammo is tight, so creating infighting is necessary. Overall: I very like Heretic levels, but given the skyhigh ratings above, this one is disappointing; +1 because we need more Heretic maps = small 3*. BTW @ 5* voters: there are a lót of Heretic maps in the archive which are much, much better, so sorry, but this one is not legendary at all.

Very good single map wad for Heretic. If only more people would make maps of this calibre for this unappreciated game I would be a happy man. Would be nice to see more maps from this author for Heretic. 4/5 Kristus.

Excellent Heretic wad by a skilled mapper. Ammo balance might have been a tad bit on the tight side, but then again, I probably suck at using inventory. So yeah, good stuff. -Snakes

Nice work, even it's hard(if you go wrong way, then get ass kicked), but I have a lot of fun with it, and a rarely good piece of Heretic map I must say. The layout just a bit confusing me so I take some time to found it out. 4/5 -playerlin

Woah! Why have I not seen this level before?!? I love a good Heretic map that stays true to the first episode (Docks theme) and makes it look pretty without someone having to throw in some 2nd or 3rd episode stuff in. It was a bit short, however it was perfect.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
