About This File

A Containment Area-inspired level with an oldschool style that combines the original level's music and abundance of crates with a few surprises of its own. This is one of the first maps I ever completed and what I consider to be the first time I truly "got" what it took to make a non-linear map with elements of exploration and branching paths.

Quite nice - reasonably non-linear, manages to capture the E2 style well. E2M2 was probably selected for the music. My only complaint is the apparent use of "usable-only-once" lifts for secrets. 4/5 - ZZ

      Wow, this is a stellar example of what a Doom wad should be.   I'll start out by saying it's not easy in any sense of the word- I recommend hurt me plenty, and I never do that, lol. Ultraviolence is almost too hard in my opinion, and I'm like a blood-drinking Doom veteran, so you might want to take my word for it. It's the kind of maps where anytime you find a major switch, all hell breaks loose all around you. Lots of cacodemons, lots of spectres, and big groups of imps. There's also a lot of nukage, but don't be too intimidated, a lot of it is just short lengths you can run.   The map design, the music choices, the gameplay? Fantastic. Very well balanced items, and not too easy either. We're talking pretty much Doom 2 amounts of monsters if not more, but in Ultimate Doom, which is also a cool aspect. There aren't very many Ultimate Doom wads these days, and I appreciate the enemies of the first game a bit more than I do Doom 2.   In the end? Very tasteful. This is one of my favorite wads, I think.

      Really good Episode for Ultimate Doom.   The maps are puzzle-ish and maze-ish and cramped, also sometimes tight on ammo. But the layouts are really fun and entertaining. Maybe adjusting sector light could have been better, but anyway, this is a good mapset with neat details and a good story, too. I played this episode along this dehacked patch, that comes really handy to know what is happening at the end.   I hope Cleimos 2, the conclusion to this story, follows the same entertaining approach like this one. Thanks Rand & Steven Phares for this complete episode for U.Doom

      Morbus seems to be the best planet to go on vacation... Well, at least if you like living a nightmare!   Fun little atmospheric mapset, really dark and with interesting gameplay choices, like extremely tall elevators, big dark open areas, switch hunting and more. Just my cup of tea!   And even if planet morbus is silly, it is a hell of fun!
      One of the first wads i ever played, no clue i still love it... even with all the let downs!

      Pretty long maps and there are some real stinkers in there like map 19. But overall, its fun even though it can get frustrating at times.

      A fun, non-linear base level somewhat on the easy side but still worth playing and has good replayability.
