About This File

A simple Boom wad. It's my first released work here, and even my first work with Boom. It has only 11 Maps, cause I don't have much time to make a full megawad. I don't know where did the name come from, It's just a name.

It's a cute first mapset by FractalXX, a mapper mostly known to be the project leader of Gridlock 64 and some other maps for other projects. The wad is strongly reminiscent of 90s mapsets and have quite good attention to detail, as well of lots of "bright colors"  in the textures usage that is rare to see in Doom maps. All maps are pretty short (the one that take me most of the time it was 10 minutes of play) and this mapset can be finished in a half hour. Best map in the pack is MAP09, but overall  a ok episode for pass the time.

It's been 2 years since this release. Even I wouldn't rate it any good. I just had a thought of remaking it, again in Boom format, but with better experience, would try to balance it better, make gameplay better, detailing, etc. Maps wouldn't be all the same, but the concept, maybe also the soundtrack/textures would be. What do you think?

There's obviously a lot of raw enthusiasm being shown by the author, but the experience/know-how isn't quite there yet. The main culprit is texture alignment (a lot unpegging issues to go around) and, at least at this point, experimenting with linedef actions that aren't quite mastered yet. That said, the gameplay was decent enough, but most areas were too cramped and the floor overdetailed, which really creates a 'meh' feeling overall. Look forward to future, cleaner works, though. 4/10 -Snakes

There is some fun to be had here but visual glitches are abound, its a pistol start meanie, and the archvile/baron combos on maps 04-11 make for some impossible situations. My recommendation to author is to play your own maps before you rush'n'release! On the + side, track were decent! 2/5 -FoH ::FDA(map 11 only) -prboom+ 2.5.1 skill4::http://www.m ediafire.com/downloa d.php?lomgd24f242wei y(remove spaces)

i thought it was great. nice music choices, nice progression, a few fun ideas here and there, and breezy gameplay. bonus points for details like the debris laying on the ground in the hotel map. if i had to gripe about anything, id say to make your silent teleporters a little cleaner in the future. seeing sectors and monsters pop out of thin air like that doesnt look so nice. keep it up

As sequels go it certainly has more ambition than the original while still keeping its detail-laden aesthetic, but it's plain to see what parts of the mapmaking process received the most effort and the gameplay stays fairly rote throughout. It's not an amazing gameplay experience all told, but it's still fun enough to play and it serves as a neat little snapshot of some of the mapping attitudes and styles of yore.

A overall pretty good first effort map with some small cool details, new textures, a pretty good theme and room construction, as well for clever secrets and layout design. Pretty cool stuff.

Oh wow, I really loved this! I appreciated every map and it has been a step up from Fava Beans, my last WAD. I am a largely unskilled and inexperienced doomer so this may have aided my enjoyment. I loved the episode structure: first maps were warm-up through to big maps with larger enemy counts, through to maps with interesting mechanics but low enemy counts. Just had a ball with this. Tough in places but not unreasonable.   Highlights for me were (if I have to limit to two maps per episode): E1M5 - Long level with a cyberdemon in the nukage at the end  E1M6 - Circle straffing a cyberdemon on a stairs E2M3 - Loved the fast tempo of the map E2M4 - Tyson Imp punch level, wow I had to skill up E3M2 - Tough but fun with lots of routing to consider E3M5 - Loved the map but particularly the cyberdemon arena at the end   Sorry, but I also loved the gimmick maps (E1M8, E2M8 and E3M8) - you have to try these - short and really interesting. Also enjoyed the secret maps (E1M9, E2M9 and E3M9), short, punchy and fun!   Basically, loved the mapset and the variation across all of the maps, really fun. If it is useful I have uploaded my playthrough to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSh0vj-6E2chQqx744Ajl2w

Really enjoyed this WAD. Simple and straight forward with small maps and low enemy counts, but a great place to start for a new doomer. I had so much fun playing and particularly enjoyed E1M5, E1M6 and E1M7, these were really fun, nice tempo and I continue dropping back to play these again and again. It was really enjoyable to push the pace on these and see how fast I could finish.   Basically, enjoyed the calm encounters and nice simple aesthetics. Three minutes into the map I already like it. The starting room looks nice and the room after that can be difficult if you do not navigate it well enough. I do not understand why you would give a rocket launcher when the room in front of you which is filled with lost souls who will attack when you press the trigger. I do like how you give the chaingun and plasma gun before the big room with Barons and cacodemons. However, the room does have some strange textures for the cacodemons' pockets. I do like how one of the pockets is a lift to a switch that is required to press to make progression. I do like the room with the resources needed for the last fight but I do think the room was a bit too tiny and the fight would have been harder if you did not place the BFG in the open. 7/10
