About This File

Third WAD by [B0S] clan. Now it's 32 levels. Plot: "It all happened because of that strange portal in the cargo compartment of this falling plane. After we loaded the object we had found under kilometers of ice in the cargo hold, the commander appointed me to escort the valuable cargo. Who could've known that the mysterious find was going to suddenly come to life? A bright flash is the last thing I remember after liftoff."

I can't understand the problems of people. It's a great stuff. Seriously, ALL THE LEVELS ARE GREAT! At least IMO. I hope it won't be voted down seriously. 5/5 - Katamori

Some maps are a bit buggy but if you use a source port like prboom-plus you won't notice any problems. Great job 5/5. dwrTag

It's got some cool levels that theme up nicely (although not all the levels seem to tie in), and there's a dreamy sort of Kult-like Metropolis feel to some of the areas. It can get a little sparse on fights at times, and it leans more to puzzles than slaughter, but it's creative and shifts around enough to stay interesting.-GreazyS horts

Only works 100% correctly in PrBooM+, but there's nothing gamebreaking in Eternity or ZDooM. As usual for BOS, the maps are quite atmospheric and include some very unusual themes, particularly later on. Also as usual, some of the occasionally puzzle/exploration-c entric gameplay, and some of the huge maps, will not be to everyone's taste. Nice to see Azamael, the project lead this time, maturing as a mapper. Quite memorable overall; hopefully not the last BOS project. -TDotW

I adore these experimental, exploratory maps! I wouldn't say detail is lacking, either - lots of work has clearly gone into crafting the likeness of real or pseudo-real places. There aren't borders all over the place? Who cares? Get lost in this amazing map pack!

AWESOME !!!

The maps lacked detail, but the megawad was still impressive. Music selection was quite nice and enemy placement was also pretty good. I've seen better, but not everyone is a mapping legend, so I give this one a 4/5.

Some interesting ideas here, but I have strong impression that maps were done by talented beginners. While most layouts are interesting, it's too many little ugly bits here and there for truly positive experience. 3/5

A.L.T. is certainly one of the unsung mapsets that deserves praise. very well constructed levels and decent monster placement. MAP26 is a fucking beauty.

Very mixed bag. Holds some great wads with nice ideas, but also some who are simply WOT. Overall as-is an average 3/5, but the best 8 or so wads alone would get a solid 4/5.

Some great maps here, with impressive visuals and really strange, surreal atmosphere. Combat rarely resorts to lowly slaughterfest, difficulty is mostly result of smart enemy placements and combinations. Sadly, maps are often confusing, puzzle driven and sometimes resort to dreaded automap obscuring. This wad doesn't resort to cheapness in combat department but it does so in puzzle-exploration part. You know something is wrong when it is often easier to find most secrets than a way to progress.

Do yourself a favor and go in to delete the custom sounds with XWE or something. The maps themselves can be pretty cool, but there's not a lot of action, so if you're expecting a slaughterfest, don't.

Their best output so far, though I dig for map02 and map13 from Sacrament and miss that atmosphere.

Great mapset! Monster placement is excellent, most maps are non-linear and take some exploring to figure out. Don't care for some of the new sounds, but changing the SS trooper sounds makes them into viable monsters (anyone else done this?). There's some very innovative use of textures as well; some of the best detailing to make realistic objects in doom (without use of 3d floors or over 9000 sectors to make an object). Traps are brutal but not unfair. 4.5/5.

Quite unique atmosphere in these levels and a surprisingly consistent background story. Features some scenarios with remarkable looks (maps 8, 9, 15, 26) and some really huge areas (e.g. map 11 "Recall"). I was seriously running out of ammo in the last third of the wad often, so better make your hits count. Authors work with obscured automap areas a lot, especially towards the end, which can be a bit confusing. Didn't get a Caco in 2012, but it doesn't mean you should skip this.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.
