About This File

Gameplay modification for Doom(2). It's a weapon modification you can fit inside a matchbox!

Parkour is a full weapon enhancement mod, featuring swift n' snazzy takes on the original doom weapons, featuring reloading, dual wielding, and effects galore. True to its name, it also allows for increased mobility via kickjumping and super-unrealistic aerial dashing. Whooosh!

This mod is a first in that it achieves its aims purely with code. There are no new graphical or audio resources included -- all work is done via the magic of ZDoom's TEXTURES. As such, it has a super-small filesize and is about as 'pure' as a mod can get in terms of content.

Parkour was originally released on the ZDoom forums as an entry to Cutmanmike's Doom Mutator Contest #2 (which, sadly, was never judged), and is the first of its kind, providing the inspiration for mods such as WildWeasel's excellent "Style Mod" and Jimmy's kickass "Omega".

For those itching for some extra gore, Parkour is also compatible with Brutal Doom Lite, with special care taken to preserve special deaths. Go nuts and splat some skulls!

The only problem's I've faced with this mod is that it's very easy to skip entire sections of levels and possibly get the level to break if it's ACS or special line heavy. Even then, it's a brilliant idea for a mod anyway. Perhaps some monster balancing should have been done to balance out the Parkour Dash, too.

Very, very highly recommended; even if you completely ignore the walljump feature and just play with the new weapons, this makes things a little more interesting. -ww

It's 25KB because the requirements of the contest was to make a wepons mod that included no new graphics or sounds, so it's not a trollwad. Even then, it's definitely not one of Xaser's best works.

This is pretty cool, I might be tempted to create a mapset with this once I've finished my current GZDoom 3 level set with ultra cool metal music like Q2's (with real guitars!) - Lexus Alyus

This is a work of technical genius, it feels exactly like Doom, and it provides a fantastic new gameplay style that doesn't feel old or overused and I smell the possibility for a mapset based around this mod. Somehow, this provides more action than Doom 2 itself. 5/5, Xaser.

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
