So this is the kind of map that I got to like from just how it looks. The screenshots alone sold it for me and gave a good first impression. And the map has a lot going for it, it's one very large, rather non-linear level with a distinct setting and tone. The setting is great, actually, there was a lot of work put to make it feel like a real place (there are distinct building like a church, a supermarket, etc.) and it excels in this regard, and I also like the depressing tone it has.
Unfortunately, after replaying it thoroughly (I didn't give it a proper go the first time I played it years ago, and just assumed it's great throughout), it didn't really live up to expectations. It's not bad, but it's not remarkable (except for the good things I said about it above), and it has shortcomings. My main gripe is that, despite exploring seemingly everything, eventually I reached a point where I didn't know where to go, and the computer area map didn't help either. After over 1.5 hours of playing I just gave up on it.

The other complaint is music: it's too repetitive. This is bad considering you'll definitely be playing this map for at least an hour, and the music will become annoying.

As for the difficulty, can't complain. It was rather easy on ITYTD, as it should be. Tho there's a rather difficult platforming segment, at least if you aren't good at it.

One more thing: this map had FPS drops for me, even tho I played on Eternity, and it seems to be the problem with the map, not my computer.

Only 1 new Level, other look of Weapons but same shots as classic weapons, and no new monsters. Poor!

A very beautiful map, great ambiance.

Ammo-starvation quickly became a problem in UV early on, though - fighting pinkies and imps in the maze in the first part of the map emptied me out pretty quickly.  Needs either more ammo pickups or hit-scanners to drop ammo.  That is why the three stars.

Otherwise, this was a very beautiful map.

One of the most beautiful modern wad. survival and exploration ... I love it. (Try under PrBoom for less lag:)

geez, I said this was one of the better things despite the lag, but I still have to dock my former rating because well, I didn't like it as much. combat of course is okay but never hits its stride, the spacing makes things easy, and the nonlinear direction is pretty splendid. the desolate feeling is of course a major plus. the whole southern section of the map honestly needs to go though, there's not enough meat to justify the mini-town there, and it took me awhile to get the red key. here's a hint, head back to the teleporter and do some roof jumping, it's a bit of a pain in the ass. the sprite replacements are okay aside from the BFG which is just weird. favorite moment was at the blue key, using the switch to raise the buildings was really cool.

Absolutely loved this one! But the off-center shotgun sprite really is annoying, forces me to use my crosshair so im not wasting ammo from a misaligned gun lol other than that , awesome!!!

Works flawlessly in Zandronum (no lag) btw. Excellent immersive level with great music that really adds to the atmosphere. 5/5. -TRRobin.

Lag even in a i3 from 2009 (Gzdoom). Doesnt work for me in Prboom 2.5.0.6, maybe my fault. Interesting but somewhat excessive. 4/5

An excellent map indeed. It's a shame some areas weren't blocked off a bit more so as to reduce view complexity. Still an easy 5/5.

Efford: 5/5. Atmosphere: 4.5/5. However, way too many attributes drop the framerate far below playability, even on my i2600K + HD6850: 1.5/5. Gameplay: too much searching, too many dead doors: 2/5. Playability: not challenging at all @ UV: 2/5. So overall: 3/5 (which does not say this map is 'average'). BTW is the music based on the fantastic unloved map?

Laggy, confusing, and the replacements are called silly (even through I liked them), but it's still an awesome and particular post-apocalyptic scenery, with fantastic atmosphere! - Katamori

Pretty overrated. The map is way too big and as such it chugs like a mother fucker and makes getting around a pain in the ass. The general layout is also confusing and unintuitive.

4/5. I'll give you credit for great atmosphere and lots of enemies to fight, but the giant map was too much. It wasn't fun spending 10 minutes working out what you had to do. I think splitting this map up into 3 levels would've been fine - the initial field, then the first part of the city, and then the second part/the end. There was no gameplay reason to have areas that you won't return to lingering around on your map - it just made it that much harder to navigate. But I had fun, and it does look nice.

It lags and stuff. Don't even need the music to bore me to quit the wad.

Visually stunning. Gameplay so-so. Took me AGES to work out how to get the yellow key ... even using an editor didn't help. There is a visual bug however, in all ports ...sectors 131 and 18 have the incorrect floor height of -128 instead of 0. Shows up as a gap in the floor, especially with mouselook. Sectors 19 and 148 have the correct floor height for the effect wanted. A small blemish on an otherwise good pwad.

Great design, style and atmosphere. Also not hard gameplay. 5/5 About "lags". Author recomeded prBoom-Plus. Not GZDoom. And map too large for prBoom. You need a good machine for GZdoom.

The map is huge and detailed to the point where the automap hardly helps to give an indication of where you are. There's a nice balance of monsters and lots of cover, but a severe lack of ammo. I found myself using the fist a lot on enemies without projectile attacks. Also, it uses a ridiculous amount of sprite objects for foliage and brought the framerate down to 35fps at some points.

A bit of a cramped map, but there are many fun fights to see here. This is one of those maps w/ very little room to run around. You better be able to dodge revenant fireballs in close quarters if you are to have success here. This map isn't too difficult, but it is a fair challenge. I'd say it'd be a 6/10 on the difficulty scale today.   There is some mean archvile placement in this map, too. A lot of fights involve hit and run tactics, as there isn't nearly enough room to circle-strafe in this map. Because one can't circle-strafe, the map is far more difficult.   There is one absolutely great trap involving a dark corridor near the end of the map. I don't want to spoil it, as its quite a 'scary' section of the map.   I recommend you play w/ a port that supports MAPINFO, as there is a message at the end of the WAD when you win.   Great map from the early 2000s. Check it out!

Not at all bad. Quite a good time on UV. Most of the fights are against fodder type enemies - you rarely feel in danger at all throughout the entire level.   Map has a couple good traps, but most of the encounters are "groups of enemies standing in rooms" type encounters...   Not horrible, feels like an early map by this author, as if they were still trying to get their footing. Give this one a try, if you want some older 'classic' style gameplay.

The spidermastermind fight was fun - I had to get it to infight w/ a caco, in order for me to slide by and get the red key.   The map was easy to navigate, but was not much to look at. The map is very bland in its texturing theme, and architecturally, does not resemble an average  level from 2008. This visually looks like a map from a far earlier mapping period. Lots of 90-degree rooms, and very simple geometry.   Even w/ all of this in mind - it was still an okay 4-5 minutes worth of fun, even if a bit of a drab experience...

If this is really the author's first map, then I am very impressed! Some great architecture in this map - feels like you're deep behind hellish lines. Combat is very easy - which is to be expected of a map designed to be in the map01 slot. The map is a bit linear, but that is to be expected from one's first foray into mapping.   I really really like the way this map looks, I only wish it was a little more difficult!   Worth a shot to see some decent hell architecture!

A very simple map w/ very simple combat. The entire arena consists of 1 circular room outdoors, w/ a single pillar in the middle. This pillar will be your only cover in this entire map.   There is an absolutely massive amount of ammo inside the pillar. One simply doesn't need this much ammo for 48 enemies. You can get  some cool infighting going in this map, if you rush and press the switches right away. Things can get quite crowded if you don't slay the two pain elementals right away. Gameplay essentially consists of 'circle-strafe to win' - as there is far too much room given to the player to manoeuvre.   Unfortunately, this map lacks an archvile. I think an archvile in that final wave would have really made this map more fun. The final 'wave' is a little anticlimatic, if you've been playing Doom for any length of time.   The level is also very basically textured - some differing texture usage would have been nice. As it stands, the map is very grey.   The level initially took me just under 4 minutes to UVMAX. I then tried to beat the level as quickly as possible, and got 28 seconds.   This level is also interesting for having been made w/ a very old Mac map editor, Hellmaker.   This map is quite fun for a quick sub 5 minute romp! :)
