About This File

"Interception" is a vanilla-compatible megawad for DOOM II. The story takes place in the distant future, and involves being part of a team of marines, who are sent a distress signal from an archeology site. The rest of your team is killed by some nasty hellspawns. Now it's your job to stop the invasion, or die trying. Along the way, you explore ancient military bases, an underground necropolis, and Hell itself.

This megawad contains 32 levels of pain, action, and raw fear; all of which is co-op and DM compatible! With killer atmosphere and an incredible score by XenoNemisis and stewboy, Interception takes things back to basics.

Almost like another Memento Mori/Requiem wad...a real gem! The first few levels are actually some of the weakest so don't let them discourage you at all. Easily a 5/5 megawad in great oldschool spirit.

I have to say, I agree with Katamori, well designed maps but nothing special, and non atmospheric. Just too bland in my opinion. 3/5

Run through brown techbases and Hell while grabbing keycards and hitting switches. Snoozefest.

Decent maps without any special elements. Not my taste, sorry. 3/5 - Katamori

Pretty darn good, but a bit short of greatness. Some bugs in certain areas let it down a bit but none the less a decent wad. 4 stars. -TRRobin.

It's a very nice retro wad, and I wish I could give it a 5/5, but sadly, it has some detracting flaws. The level design is a bit simplistic, and it has a few bugs here and there - for example, I couldn't open the red/blue door in level 19 even though I had both keys (had to use noclip cheat to finish the level). Also, some large areas are too dark and you never get night vision goggles. At least the difficulty is fair, except for the annoying revenant/archvile traps - there were too many of them. 4/5

Best played with one of few enhancement mods (Brutal, Expanded, Beautiful, Particle, etc). Otherwise use Chocolate Doom. A true gem. 5/5 -Doomer95

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
