About This File

Megawad, based on the results of a four speedmapping contests, held on www.iddqd.ru in 2013, with such themes, as winter, thaw, precipices, and ancient civilizations. Maps were finalized some time later (some - very significantly), and several maps were built from scratch. This megawad tells us the fate of the Marine, who was going to celebrate the New Year. Suddenly, however, the monsters changed seasons' offset, and as a result - they stole the winter. We have to go through the mountains, castles and underground crypts, visit the flooded city, a lonely island and even visit the hell's edge before it will be possible to restore the normal course of the seasons. But monsters were prepared for that as well - and with the return of winter, they prepared some unpleasant surprises...

Bigger and more ambitious than it's predecessor, this sequel's good maps are better than anything seen in the first whitemare (Shadowman, Dragon Hunter, and BigMemka maps in particular), but the bad is also much more pronounced due to those maps tendency to drag on. Overall, still a phenomenal wad I will probably replay—sans map 20—at some point.

The strongest point of this wad is that the levels have great architecture, and for the first 15 levels or so, the gameplay is mostly balanced, but unfortunately the second half of the wad becomes uneven/unbalanced and too slaughter-orientated for it's own good. Why do so many wads continue to go this route nowadays?? 3 stars. -TRRobin.

Some really good fun and detailed maps but Gloominarch's Shit drags it down a star for me. That map is so utterly frustrating, stupid and idiotic and LONG that it felt more like a chore to play.I couldn't even finish it!How the heck are you supposed to stay on the platform for 2-3 minutes it takes for the shitty pillars to rise with monsters teleporting from FUCKING EVERYWHERE?!The only good things about it were the music and the starting area before the fight with Shittynarch/RANT Anyways, solid set 4/5

When maps in this magawad are good, they are really good. Floating World is a map EVERYONE should experience! Shadowman's efforts are also pretty good, and there are a few good efforts from lesser known or newbie mappers. However, when they are bad - they are really really bad. Map 11 had me almost quitting, and then you have stuff like map 20 - gigantic, visually impressive monster of a map... that is unfortunately not designed or balanced for current day human beings.

There are some nice maps, but overall it is average mapset. Most of maps are based on speedmapping sessions. It means there aren't many interesting ideas and these maps are quite forgettable. There are some highlights and I really like the music in this mapset, but it can't bring the score higher than 3.5/5 - Damned

Looks better, plays better (overall) and delivers a more thorough asskicking than you'd ever expect from the description. Downloaded without too many expectations and boy was i surprised! Don't be put off by the first few, mostly lame maps, there's some pure gold ahead. Loving the whole 'russian' feel of the atmosphere. Also boasts one of the best soundtracks i've ever heard in a DooM wad... Would be 5/5 if not for awkward, annoying gameplay in some of the maps... 4.5/5

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.

Conceptually not bad, it's a pretty imposing tower with some decent lighting, but no ammo at all despite having the guns and a VERY obscure way to rise up the floor in the lava pit? That's a big downer. But overall, it's ok.

Well, the map is pretty basic. The map is quite challenging, with there being 0 ammo pickups (excluding the backpack) outside of the starting room. There are also nazis for some reason. I will give it 2 stars only because this really wasn't meant to be played to be enjoyed, but rather just a example of how to build a map in DEU.
