About This File

This mansion-style map uses tag 666 so it occupies MAP07 slot. Many wood/panel textures is used. You are started in a small shed surrounded by zombiemen. Clean out the place and go forward to exit.

Should have named the map "Forgotten Closets": once you get past the somewhat mean starting area where you're surrounded by all manner of hitscanners, you enter the mansion and find every hall and every room is as snug as a coffin. Claustrophobic to the point of parody.

Pretty good for a vanilla level.

Author shows technical skills. But imho he misses the basics of good level design: map layout does not give the player any idea where to go and what to do, there are too many cramped areas, way to many hitscanners (chaingunners, revenants) in small corridors make the gameplay more often than not quite unbalanced, etcetera. It's not too difficult @ UV, but didn't give much fun. 4/5 for the efford & 2/5 for the gameplay = 3/5. Pity of the efford.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
