Probably the only decent maps to come out of this is MAP18 and MAP26, the rest are forgettable garbage with nothing interesting to them. You can say this is "not bad" for speedmaps, but looking at them as normal maps, you have many other PWADs to play that offer far more entertainment than a compilation of dull, ugly, and uninteresting maps.

Most maps were pretty good to play in, with or without any other mods

A few maps are good and obviously the work of skilled mappers but the whole thing is generally amateurish in quality, and feels hastily cobbled together. The fact that it's speedmapping is no excuse, much better wads have been made in that same format (3 heures d'agonie comes to mind, and they had even less time). Speedmapping may be a challenge to the mappers, but from a player's perspective, it's usually just another example of doom going off in a wrong direction...

Quote: 'These were actually good maps'. Maybe, but *from a speedmappers POV*. Remind: basically the fun of playing DooM is in the gameplay, not in the build time. The goal of speedmapping is NOT creating decent gameplay, but 'see how far we can get in limited time'. And with all respect, from a traditional POV the results are rarely good, so Zalewa does have a point. Therefore IMHO it would be a good idea to let speedmappers have their own archive section instead of mixing wads. Anyway, have fun guys :-)

I'm tired of shitty speedmapping "megawads". Out of 27 maps we played only about 5 could be considered decent enough to be playable. The rest is absolute torture (we did this in cooperative). This WAD needed quality control that would cull all the crap maps, but then it wouldn't be a "megawad" anymore, would it?

Fun stuff. Proves that even outsiders not part of the traditional communities can assemble an interesting speedmapping megawad. Some good-to-great stuff, some HelloWorld.wad maps, some myCoolMapWIPffffINEE DMORETIME.wad maps. Worth playing for the highlights. 04 has a pretty bad spechit overflow.

Some nice maps here, others not very nice, but I was most surprised with Cheesewheel, I've never even heard of him before! I wish he did more than three maps.

I'm not entirely unbiased, but I think there's more good than bad in here - especially considering the time limit (which was originally going to be 100 minutes, so be grateful for what you got). Bretty gr8 I r8 8/8... 4/5 anyway...

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
