Competent e1 clone for folks that like Doom the way it was originally. Worth playing.

Agree with ^. Lots of work, but after a while gameplay gets too boring due to the lack of variation. And please, after 20 years of DooM, yet another bunch of dark scenes with the usual spectres is not even remotely original anymore, but only annoys. 3* for the effort.

Bland but otherwise correct visuals. Avoiding boring gameplay in Doom 1 is hard to pull off and this WAD doesn't do this well. You fight monsters with puny weapons most of the time. There's also lots of backtracking.

An excellent WAD that resembles the E1 theme very well.

A solid oldschool WAD. Reminds me of a much older French episode - WOPWORLD (id=852). Simple layouts; good secrets; easy gameplay, stiffening towards the end. E1M6 has a level-breaking bug on UV and NM: the red key sector has a Baron whose head is stuck in its ceiling, so the sector won't lower on vanilla complevels. Use a Boom (or higher) complevel instead. There are also two secrets sectors (270 and 271) that are too small and too close to the walls for DOOM to register that you visited them.

A most entertaining set of maps that should have something in the bag for everybody who wants either freewheeling slaughter or tight challenge encounters.   If you're well versed in "doomy things", HMP might be a good place to start, if you desire a considerable challenge without getting totally steamrolled by the opposition right away.   If you want something more laid back yet still entertaining, HNTR is the place to be.   UV is for the most strong willed doomers out there who wish to push themselves. Paradise and Purgatory await, if you live to see it.

Small, fast. Not bad, but also not really interesting: you fight some monsters, and then a cyberdemon with the rocket launcher. Harder than the original E2M8 because there are no obstacles and the area is relatively small.

I liked it, it's a really pretty map: well aligned textures, good lighting. The gameplay is slow, maybe too easy. And my biggest objection: you must find secrets to reach the exit, never a good idea.

holy shit i got lost, and i fucking ENJOYED it. now there's some pretty amazing combat in each and every one of these gargantuan maps too, but you'll definitely need a guide if you want to get through these maps and their secrets too. so much fun still.

The last third of Doom II, reimagined by Lutz. And boy, what an imagination he has! Amazing architecture, brilliant lighting and shadows. Huge levels with insane amount of detail. Clever monster usage that doesn't turn into blind slaughter, but still keeps you on the edge due to strategic ammo placement. One of my personal highlights in 2017 when it comes to Doom mapping.
