Done with these settings:

 

- GLBoom+ 2.5.1.4. complevel 3.

- Hurt Me Plenty.

- Continuous combined with a pistol start mindset.

- Saves every 10 minutes or so.

- Loaded along with concern.wad

 

Very good episode. It serves as a final inclusion for ConC.E.R.Ned, if you wish. Aesthetically is quite superior to the other three episodes, using more variety of textures in between the maps, and structurally way better. 

 

The gameplay is tougher, really tougher. It's obvious that it is for ConC.E.R.Ned, as Thy Flesh Consumed to Doom. That is, heavier use of every enemy, loads of traps and turrets, particularly cyberdemons where you're have to expose yourself constantly and bare with the obstacles, in the form of mid and low-tiers. I would have preferred a stronger presence of spiderdemons in general, but whatever, the ones from map 08 were fine. 

 

Favourite maps are 09, 05, 06 and 07.  

 

Overall, yeah I liked it more than the other episodes. Load this with ConC.E.R.Ned to have a full 36-map megawad if you want. My rate is 8/10.

The D1 is not dead yet :) I am happy to see the D1 episode replacement of that quality because I am preparing one D1 replacement as well and this is the proof, that it could work! (mine will suck but this one is perfect) 4.5/5

It's always nice to play doom the old school way with more emphasis on atmosphere, and with a more simple, refined design, with less grandiosity. The wad balances those vintage doom elements while still bringing a rewarding modern day challenge. 5 stars without question. -TRRobin.

Not too shabby, one of the better E4 replacements out there. Layout is quite non-linear. The traps were nice and well thoughtout. The gameplay can be quite grueling at times. 4 out of 5

Very mixed bag. Most of the maps have good layout, nice decoration and on places great ambiance. But why is the gameplay so disapointingly? Well, because of the switch hunt (f.e. E4M6) and the almost total focus on snipers (even many cybies @ UV :-( ) and sudden monster popups. Because of this, the latter levels have almost no gameplay, just difficulty. Which is predictable, totally boring and does not give any fun. 4* for the maps, 1* for the gameplay and .5 bonus for the effort = 3*. It's a real pity...

Amazing, and amazingly hard. But in a good way :P The usage of vanilla textures is quite frankly, awe inspiring. Loved every second of this.

Right up there with Double Impact for the best UDoom or Doom I maps this decade so far. Even better than the individual maps of most great UDoom/Doom I megawads. A must play and then some. Now we just need modern like E2 and E3 wads that are this good!

Finally, a modern episode for UD done right! I was tired of all the "Doom The Way ID did" WADs. The visuals of Draftex are astounding. My only gripe is the instant monster spam-fest in the first few levels (and E4M9). On UV skill, you have about 5 seconds to learn the layout of the map before Shotgunners destroy you. I got spawn-killed many times before finding a strategy in these maps. The rest of the maps had a perfect challenge. I would subtract half a star, but IDGames won't allow it - so 5/5.

Awesome, specially the middle maps. The early maps worked as a great motivation to continue, and the late maps were slaughterish, but didn't drag for too long, fortunately. 5/5

Came for the screenshots, stayed for the gameplay. This is easily one of the E4 replacements around, to say the least. Layout is non linear but well done in a way you never get lost. Gameplay is fast, furious and chaotic. Solid 5 starts for this one.

It's much better than average, generally as much fun as the best levels in Concerned. Very hard too if you play max difficulty!

      I must say that although it is a wad of terry, I would like to find a serious one like this, new enemies very interesting and original just for their attacks, bosses that have inspired me (and you can see it in my creations) and it is really amazing like this wad despite having their terry traps is entertaining and much better than many wads of 32 levels, if you want to have something interesting to play and different as long as you ignore the story is fun filled with very good boss fights, excellent music, this is an option although if you can not stand the terry traps just do not try it   5/5 to be a joke wad   Gaia74

      A quarter of a million monsters in a gigantic flat square room. It is said to be for stress testing source ports (and your PC?), otherwise it's on the other side of crazy. It took my PC nearly two minutes to load the wad (I thought it had crashed) and I took less than two seconds to die. At least it ran - the author says he never even managed that.
       
      The first screenshot has a high viewpoint because an Archvile lifted me. The second shows it in the Eureka editor; seeing only about 4% of the area, and every red square is a heavyweight monster (yellow selecting a caco).  and Doomguy is in the bottom left corner. Eureka was crawling, almost unusable - how did the author even build this?

      This was great. Great joke wad and a great Terry trap collection. Instead of the generic "Oh it's a well made map at first then BOOM" it's actually a well-made megawad that simply has them as little traps that can be avoided. It's able to be completed, seriously. That's new. I especially love the final boss and highly suggest using a cheat against him. Trust me, do it, it'll be worth it.

      Are you up for a brutal, non stop challenge through detailed, but bland environments? The Secret Energy doesn't let up, so it's either a low health slaughter map or a speed runner's dream to get from switch to switch, all while enemies constantly spawn in with each button press. There's little health for such meaty enemies and even on the easiest difficulty, it's a slog to kill them all. To balance out the lower health, there are less hitscan enemies that seem to be relegated to a few chain gunners that can get distracted in a sea of madness.   It feels like a punishing experience from the first room. It fills with imps, then pinkies, then flying enemies, then revenants and a cyber demon. The entire map is like that. Enter a room and it will flood in via waves. Each wave opens up something new and you need to find where that new thing is. Is it a switch on a wall? Is it a switch inside of a pillar? Did a door just open up? Are you supposed to go back into the main corridors of the complex? At least on my first play through, I felt there was a poor flow to the level.   The place is so big and centralized, you might miss where you need to go next. No arrows, the switches are around corners and walls inside of rooms that may or may not have opened. The game has its detail, but detail with greens, browns, a few blue wires across the floors, perhaps to guide you to the next area. It was all lost on me and blurred together into a jumble. While the structures of each new room was different, it's the color scheme and darkness that stayed the same.   Give it a try. There is something redeemable in here for those hardcore enough to endure the first room, let alone the entire map.
