About This File

After getting burnt out on Brutal Doom, I still wanted vanilla gameplay but I liked having alternate deaths for the monsters (and other things) so I put together this for my entertainment and yours.

Nearly all monsters have multiple death sequences, dead things and gore are randomized and a couple other surprises.

Smooth animations have been implemented for most monsters (but not death states) as well as a few other additions in 1.2.

There are no weapon changes at all so if you want to load up your favorite weapons mod that doesn't alter monsters, make sure you load it up before it.

There is now a separate version for Zandronum now, which should work 100% due to extensive online multiplayer testing.

It's a nice concept. The random death animations and random decorations are very welcome, they add variety to the game without messing with the actual gameplay but on the other hand there is some horrible looking death animations that just come up to me as nothing but terrible, this wouldn't be such an issue if they were not the only ones that seem to play the most. But whatever, it is a nice little addition.

nice idea - and something like that was long overdue. vanilla doom got just too boring without having the good alternate deaths for monsters - i hope this one features headshots too, if not, maybe think about making another version which supports headshots.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
