100,000 Revenants

   (41 reviews)

About This File

You stand moments away from shutting down the final demon spawner that would forever end this tormenting struggle and bring everlasting peace to the universe, but Hell has followed. You've conquered endless realms, shattered their realities, and killed them all more times than you can count, but they've returned again, as they always do. But, this time, it's their true last stand. They think an assured victory is within their grasp, the combined army of Hell's finest against a lone survivor left with nothing more than his fists, but you know better.

It's 100,000 to 1.

And they don't stand a chance.

Talk about "mod it till it breaks". When even the enemies manage to summon explosions on your computer. Oven simulator/10.

OK so I had to have a look at this.

It makes NUTS look smooth... I have a reasonably capable (but quite old) i7 with 24GB RAM. It ground to about 1 frame every ten seconds, particularly after I managed (somehow) to teleport from the start to the main arena. I managed to see the infinite sea of revs, but turning or moving? Just no. I *might* give this a crack on my Alienware. It might run it at playable FPS.

Gave it ambivalent rating, 'cos I could't actually play it.

Concept is pretty interesting but frame rate is what renders the map unplayable (unless you have an extremely powerful video card). It wouldn't be an issue in the first battle but it would be when dealing with spawning enemies. I don't recommend playing this level.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
