About This File

A small map created using only textures from Noir texture pack. It's quite dark, scary and pretty difficult. It was sort of inspired by Lab X-18 from Stalker and has quite a few design aspects borrowed from it.

Don't forget, you need Noir pack to play it. You can download it from R667: http://realm667.com/index.php/en/component/docman/?task=doc_download&gid=951&Itemid=

The only map I've ever released on idgames myself (back when I was "ChekaAgent"), out of 6 I ever finished, and unfortunately, probably the weakest one.

It's garbage. Not 1994 tier, but not much better. The idea was good on paper... well, not maybe good, but sorta cool: remake Lab X-18 level from STALKER, BUT using only textures from NOIRPACK. Well, the idea... didn't work out well. It could've been done well by someone who has Torm-level detailing skills, but not by me. The map ended up being a set of bland featureless literally all-grey corridors.

If you want to see a poor attempt at remaking a level from a modern in game in Doom, or a level made in entirely out of Noirpack textures, this is it.

The music is bad as well. I mean, it fits, and is meant to be creepy, but it's also bad, repetitive and boring.

I'm writing this review just because I want to shit on something, and the best place to start is your own work! Still, I'm giving this map 2 stars instead of 1 because I put some effort into it and back then I actually finished and released maps, unlike NOW. -_-

PS: I made a stupid typo in the text file when I submitted this wad, "sacry" instead of "scary". I still remember it after almost 5 years...

A weak map - flat surfaces coupled with strangely steep staircases. Rectangular room design with paper-thin walls. Shooting is mostly straight-forward and difficulty is low. Monochrome colors and really shitty music choice. At least the layout is more or less non-confusing.

Maybe it would have been better as a shorter map, because the dark gray textures and monotonous music/noises turn dull after a while. But it's a good map, I liked it. Why the HOM at the end?

This wad uses some nice texture usage and enemy choice and placement. Some of the traps can be evil when unexpected. You have only used stock DOOM II textures but still made some nice-looking rooms. You only made three levels in this wad but still managed to make fun and nice-looking wads. Good Job, 5/5.

This is a good megawad to try when you're fed up of playing maps with obscure progression, nukage all over the place, archviles round every corner, choreographed, contrived lock-in teleport ambushes, and so on. The maps are short, straightforward and fun. I completed this over two days, playing on UV and only saving in one level (MAP29, which has a Cyberdemon and four Archviles in confined spaces, but no plasma ammunition whatsoever).

Too many stations, amazing music and barrels.

A puzzle focused wad that also contains action? Sign me up! That was close to my initial thoughts upon reading this file description. What this wad actually offers is long corridors and square rooms populated with enemies that are required to infight. That is the puzzle in every one of the five levels. How to cause infighting. This is more of a slaughter-lite level set than an actual puzzle wad so change your expectations accordingly.

Not canonically beauty from layout and some monster placement, but this map was a big fun for me! A level with some pretty mesmerizing places like the starting point, the raising pits, the really abstract techbase feel, the room lighting up a little when the player crosses some hidden lines in the mazes, the weird "theater" room that reminded me of Icon of Sin for some reason, the overall spooky feel, the final throne room... Great stuff. Things i've kind of disliked are the maze section (especially the skull walls one), some lift that doesn't work (the one where the... blue skull key is iirc and the one that leads to the red door) and the switch puzzle is pretty dull to understand, at least for me... the one with the numbers in the sector, then after one day i get that the numbers are correct order to solve the puzzle lol. Also that horrible teleport maze-like room after the yellow key, damn! Also, this map doesn't screw you around with the difficulty, as the previous reviewer commented this map can be compared to Deus Vult in that terms of difficulty and epic exploration, really. Just a raw 1996 version of it, but the comparison is all here imo.   Overall, a big and fun map to play for me. Cool stuff
