About This File

A project that ran trough most of October 2016, an attempt to create one map per day, to create a megawad. Well, I got to map 24, removed one completely for not working, other one is tedious, and thus a secrect. 23 normal maps.

well, considering I'm not a fan of his other work, this interesting set of concept maps with the whole map a day thing did sparked my interest. unfortunately, like a lot of this guy's maps, they are rather uninspiring, short, textured poorly, and put secrets in a lot of weird places. the first four maps, in fact, do not seem to give enough for weapons, which is an issue for max runners. at least MAP02 makes sense in title, as do a few other levels in the set. once you get to MAP05, it becomes a bit more fun and then you get more weapons as you go along. interestingly, the secret levels are different. there's a horrible barrel trap map which involves luck of the RNG, this map is a secret level but the strange thing is that it is MAP15, and MAP14 had two exits. of course, this one does have a secret exit, but the super secret slot? MAP22. and thing is, this really is an unchanged version of the original MAP22 of Doom 2 unless I'm missing something. it at least warps back to MAP16, but yeesh, that's weird as heck. some of the combat in the later levels proved interesting, MAP24 was less of a tower and more of a pyramid climb, and there's even a diving underwater level. overall though, it's not one to gawk at, but it at least wasn't as overly terrible as his other work, so two point five stars here.

oh and there's 25 maps, not 23 or 24.

A collection of 24 oddball speedmaps made each day of a single month ranging from the fist map with no weapons, to Tyson style maps, to a Minotaur maze with traps(except the Minotaur is not what you expected), to a gimmicky explosive barrel maze and to a simply boat ride while fighting off Cacos & Lost souls.

All in all, a decent mixed bag set from good to meh.

Very neat set of speedmaps, with some brilliant concepts, but also not too gimmick-oriented. I recommend it if you want some "bite-sized" classic-style Doom maps to pass some time.

...a bit too brown though

i just don't like this kind of wad. You have to run to end the level and there's no weapon. We can't get 100% kills.

I'm on map 4 and I haven't found a single weapon yet.

For a wad made in 1995 it's a pretty convincing church, I like how detailed it is, as well as the graveyard, too bad it is quite short because it's fun (Although I understand that, as a deathmatch level, making it too large can make it unfun to play). The exit gates are an awesome detail too. Definitely check it out 5/5 stars   - xX_Lol6_Xx

Upon the release of The Ultimate Midi Pack for Doom 1 that replaces all midi slots w/ original compositions, I thought to myself "Hell Yeah, now I have an excuse to play DTWiD!". Besides the shameless plug, I would recommend everyone to give that pack a listen and perhaps a spin w/ this wad b/c god damn does it go together like peanut butter and nutella.   Onto DTWiD: Well, the people behind this wad accomplished the goal of mimicking the style of John Romero, Sandy Petersen, and last but not least Tom Hall. Every level breathes like it was made by any of the three gentlemen, and god damn I had a blast w/ this one. While certainly not as hard as your Plutonia, Rowdy Rudy 1+2, Hell To Pay, or even Good Morning Phobos, it has its own moments where it doesn't pull its punches. However, one of my main gripes w/ this wad is that there's a lot of secrets to find if you're a completionist like I am, as some of them are a bit tricky to hunt down. The maps are way bigger than the OG John, Sandy, and Tom Hall levels, and while it's great to mesh some good fights here and there, it at times felt like a slog to go through b/c of the size of some of these maps. E1 was the weakest in terms of fights here, as expected that you won't be fighting anything tougher than hitscan, imps, and pinkies. While the design was great, I admittedly got lost a few times trying to get my bearings and know just where the hell I need to go. E2 was a bigger improvement upon E1, and had a few moments where it was spooky, like things are really beginning to hit the fan. E3 (which unironically in the OG UD was my least fav episode that I couldn't even bring myself to finish) was probably the best episode of the bunch, everything was oppressive and coming for you, luckily there was an abundance of ammo to help you out in messy situations, more traps and better set ups than what E2 had and a way better episode than E1. The secret levels of all 3 episodes are the highlight of the wad.   While I wouldn't say that this wad is a "must play" b/c over time I started to get a bit exhausted on the size of some of the levels and figuring out where I need to go, and especially since I binged E1, E2, and E3 3 days each respectively, I had my moments where I was like "Please God let this be over". Overall, I would say this is more of a wad that if you really wanna check out, go for it, or a good recommendation for people who are just beginning their journey of playing community wads and want something ez to play.

Blue broken rooms and ugly texturing, lots of HOMs, lots of monsters and no way to resemble any house of sort. Or to tribute The big Lebowsky movie at all. A very bad old style jokewad map, unfunny at all.

A medium sized map sets in a sort of church surrounded by burning men, graveyards and other type of stuff around. The level is simple but fun to play, both in SP and DM. Same simplicity reflects in the detailing work and fell.

A wooden and metal structure that also have some prisons, hidden locked doors as normal textures and everything here is brown, very brown. Overall a fun map with a fun gameplay and a spooky atmosphere, especially thanks to the music. Cool stuff.
