A fun recreation of Doom II's OG levels. Most maps are pretty decent, steps up more in the challenge, and gives a feeling of deja-vu in these reimagined yet familiar maps. I would dare say this is an underrated release that came out of 2017, a year that was really popping off in Doom content.

However, my praise of this megawad ends there. The reason why I didn't give it a higher rating is b/c even though the author of the wad says it's a boom megawad in the thread, some maps seem like they've been tested only in zdoom-based ports b/c some have some softlocks in certain areas of maps if you're not playing in a ZDoom port. The midis are awful, I went into SLADE myself to take em out b/c I couldn't stand em anymore.

Otherwise, it's an okie-dokie wad. Play it in GZDoom as a word of caution, maybe load in some mods if you wish to spice things up a bit, too.

Incredible revision of Doom 2, with some maps that appear similar to their original counterparts but have enough differences to keep it refreshing and exciting to play. The best maps to me come near the end, where the level design is really fun to explore and pulls some tricks that might catch you off guard. The WAD packs a challenge that is far greater than the original Doom 2, but it's not necessarily so hard you'll be turned off from playing. With secrets that leads to other secrets, sandbox maps with tons of enemies and great scenery, there's something for everybody here.

My main criticism is the choice of music, while some MIDIs are great to listen to, others are just terrible and don't fit some levels. Other than that, this megawad is worth checking out!

A very classic style mapset in terms of layouts and visuals, but a nice challenge - not too hard, not too easy. Enjoyable to play through for sure. Music was a mix of good and terrible MIDIs based on great songs. Great effort here!

I enjoyed the first 8 maps, then I got to map 9.  That bullshit platform room is jokewad material. Are you kidding me? Not gonna bother with this map and start fresh from map 10.

The first few maps in this WAD are nothing to write home about - just some homages to Doom 2, playable but nothing special, with little expectancy for improvement. But it does improve. A lot.

This WAD is fun, fun, fun. The homages to Doom 2 don't follow crude recreations of the same maps, but rather the ideas are taken to create something new. You will recognize some scenery, but its done in an eager way and not just to grab the original map and shift some vertices around.

The maps range from great to moderate, but never dipping below that. You will see many different approaches to detailing, combat and layouts. You will find some sandboxy maps, good for exploration. You will also find some maps with pathways paved out for you. It's a fully-fledged Doom game, with all the variety for everyone.

Drawbacks:

1. I didn't care for most of the music choices. Doom music was more melodic, here it is mostly shredding.

2. Monster Condo is a bit too much like the original.

a great wad, modernizes the look of some of the maps from the OG, while being just as fresh all the same. maps like MAP22 and MAP25 are more unique than the rest, but overall, this was certainly an enjoyable and balanced mapset and I barely could find any flaws with it.

Good wad, bad music.  Terrible music.  It might be decent on its own merits but during this play through it was just loudly annoying.

So I found this to be a pretty fun megaWAD. It feels familiar to the OG Doom 2 IWAD while still being and doing its own original thing. Map 9 can fuck right off with its precarious platforming though (I'm pretty sure the megaWAD wasn't designed for jumping but I did it anyway in the lava room with those skinny-as-fuck platforms) and I didn't care for the death exit in Map 20 (but I hate death exits in general).

Despite my complaints, it's still worth a shot for those of you who are into megawad's like myself. :)

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.
