Make It Startan

About This File

Prepare your eyesight for the cacophony of STARTAN mess. The visual delight you're about to experience matches only botched WADs (or that 50-shades WAD). Expect: paper-thin walls, bent doors, strange shapes, STARTAN, more STARTAN and violation of Romero's "change floor, change height" principle. Get yourself inspired by the perfect screen split as you spawn. Get yourself pumped with the pump-action shotgun (but don't forget its double-barrelled brother). Get psyched!

The map sticks to a "base" theme and uses D_RUNNIN as music because it fits the expectations above. It takes about 30 minutes to beat on HMP/UV and 10 - 15 minutes on easy.

UV difficulty is balanced around finding secrets, which range from overly-generous to pathetic. One secret is particularly helpful in choking down the horde. HMP is more suited smooth gameplay, although if you do find the secrets you might find it too easy.

Story: You just went into this place because you thought it sells juicy hamburgers. It turns out that it is instead infested with forces of Satan and it looks like it crawled out of rat's nest. You wanted to turn back, but the entrance door wouldn't open anymore. The only chance of getting out is to go in.

Not funny but an interesting concept, two stars.

Apart from amateurish looks (ugly texturing, wafer thin crushing walls), this is a rather good level to blast through! Also, it can make you laugh, an imp, a hell knight, a couple of sergeants, BAM! 37 revenants from all sides, with the plasma and the SSG to deal with them. The second revenant trap (28 revenants) was actually really creative.

Another great installment of "The Way ID Did" megawads, this is a really good classic maps where the style of original mappers is been mimicked very well, for having the really good stuff you have to wait, but when you get it, you'll enjoy it a lot! Also congratulations for finally giving "The Chasm" justice (don't worry, since MAP24 is again the "lower" point of wad, but the gimmick aren't that weird like in the original Doom 2, trust me) with it's MAP28 "The Abyss". Lots of cool maps and some shining gems. The Coomander Keen secret maps are a fancy surprise.

An another masterpiece from the Scythe Series. I liked the green demons, the idea to set it on a space station which is taken over by Hell's demons sounds neat and as always, I had fun and I was grateful to play it. Hope you'll return one day with Full version of Scythe X   Easily my favourite Megawad Series

An another awesome Megawad from you Erik. I really liked the details and the design of the maps you added. And the music you added is all the money. I really liked the Ancient Egypt levels and the music that was used on Map 13:Mining Project reminded me the days when I first started the Megaman X games, as it's Sigma Stage 1 Theme.

Hope you will make a completed version of Scythe 3

I just played this for the first time in 2021 and I enjoyed it a lot! The maps are sort of old school but play very well.

A non-conventional level with quite some novel ideas, but none fully executed. Overall easy, save for a more tense location.
