These levels were developed on a 486/33 machine, so there's no
guarantee that they will run on anything less powerful. Some parts
(especially the open streets on level E1M1) will probably run very
slowly on many machines.
Basically, I started working on a level using DEU just to try out
some ideas I'd had whilst playing Doom (initially a metro station,
then a street scene, then a cemetery). As you'll see if you play
these levels, some ideas worked quite well (I'm proud of the
floodlights and TV set in the final level) and others less so
(check-out the disco in the first level), but overall I was quite
pleased with the result. The second level is a bit of a space
filler, so don't expect much from it, but the first and third
levels work pretty well (including in Deathmatch mode).

Basic Plot : Your main aim is to destroy the Cyberdemon which has
made its base somewhere around the city. You have heard that it is
to be found in a hidden mansion near an old cemetery which can only
be reached via an abandoned metro station.
E1M1 : You begin your mission in the metro, but you've passed the
abandoned metro stop and got off at the next station. You'll have
to go round to the other platform and get on a metro going back the
other way, but to do that you need a ticket. Unfortunately, this
means venturing out into the roughest neighbourhood in the city...
Hints : You're free to explore, but basically it's a linear plot
based around the traditional keys (blue, then red, then yellow).
E1M2 : Now you're on a metro train heading for the abandoned
station. Once there, you'll have to find your way through an old
factory to the surface.
Hints : None necessary really. Just don't go dropping into any
fiery pits expecting to find a way out - life's not like that!
E1M3 : You've reached the surface via a secret elevator and find
yourself in an ancient cemetery. Now all you have to do is find your
way to the mansion and defeat the Cyberdemon!
Hints : If you find your way blocked by a no-entry sign, you've
missed a trigger. There's one in the cemetery and another in the
mansion (remember: if in doubt, press it!).
