About This File

A massive level that originally started out looking like a dragon. However, due to size limitations of the DEU editors (See below), I was forced to shrink and stuff a few sections until it ended up looking more like a mutant hunchback doberman with a severe case of hemorrhoids. My options were to redraw to make the artwork appear better, or go with a level that is an outright blast to play. Easy choice - Artwork be damned, let's kick some ass! I didn't care much for the "Let me see you get through THIS!" kind of attitude that seems to have destroyed the fun in what would otherwise have been some really good PWADs, so this level is unconditionally playable. There are only a couple of what I would consider tough puzzles to get past, and there are no death pits: If you can get in - you can get out. Basically, this level is a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it.

It's looking coarse, and texturing is questionable in places, but overall it's not too bad, and the textures are well aligned. There's even a hint of detail. Gameplay is ok. It's rather easy but has a few challenging situations. It's one of the better wads from the first year of Doom editing, but can't bear the comparison with later wads, of course. 2/5 -Milian

As noted, a fun level to play. It flows well, without the usual key hunt annoyances.

For 1995 design is ok. But is VERY short. 3 min in slow pace.  Map is easy af.

Square rooms, no details, ugly. Secrets aren't flagged as secret. Only for crappy-wad-lovers.

For 1995, not bad. Some ideas, are really cool, but they're mixed with dumb things. Texture misalignments are common. Overall I had nice time with this.

Aside from a couple of stinkers (I'm looking at you, maps 20 and 33), this was a pretty fun and challenging map set to play through. For the time limit imposed in order to make these maps, they're of pretty nice quality, I think. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the (in my opinion) overusage of Arch-Viles and Revenants, it was still a fair challenge.

Disregard earlier review server error caused me to download the incorrect file. So what do I like? The textures combined with the sharp lighting contrast between heavy dark and rather bright areas. What I don't like is the rather empty feeling level with large rooms and corridors filled with medium tier enemies on Ultra Violence, i.e cacodemons and hellknights, while only given a shotgun and chaingun. The issue with this is that encounters become more tedious than dangerous. I would add a super shotgun or spread out the medium tier enemy placement. The level detailing leaves a lot to be desired with the large empty grey rooms/corridors reminding me more of Half-Life than Doom. With some more detailing and better monster/weapon placement I would rank this higher but as it stands this level leaves a lot to be desired.
