About This File

the setting is inside a volcano: there are corridors, rooms and some larger areas. Overall the level should run smoothly on all machines.

The creation of this WAD was made possible by the two great programs called DEU 5.1 and BSP 1.1 (dmgraph and wt helped, too). In this WAD I continued my work in the creation of realistic lighting effects. When you walk through corridors you will find areas lit by torches. Don't expect any torch in natural cracks..... Some of the rooms have objects (pillars, etc) which cast shadows onto the floor and on the walls.

This level takes place in a volcano, volcanoes contain lava, and lava is deadly. If you fall into the lava YOU ARE DEAD. There's no way to get out of it. If you see dangerous ledges then SAVE YOUR GAME. Special effects include: waterfall with sound, a couple of attempts to recreate cave-ins, a fallen bridge and computer messages! The difficulty is higher than Dead Base.

Another masterpiece from antoio barsella, the guy who brought us this map's prequel deadbase. Its superb, absolutely legendary.

Where's the damn yellow key? I can't find it so I can't beat the map.. Pretty monotonous layout, but for 1994, it's not too bad.

voted 4.5 stars (before mine) I expected a good map... disapointing... bad gameplay and a few nice touches don`t help 1.5/5

Bad: New textures are so-so; backtracking through the winding tunnels can get dull. Good: Visually ahead of its time, with effective, moody lighting and impressive detailing; when played in sequence with DeadBs10 (as intended), health/ammo balance is quite good; fairly large level that will take a while to explore and complete. Overall: One of the best `94 maps out there. Those who seek retro goodness, look no further! 5/5 -VV

I tried to give this a fair shake. I really did. By the time I got to map15, it became apparent the same tropes and traps were employed across the megawad. Not a fan of teleporting hoards of monsters in your face once you pickup a key, nor ammo shortages, clueless teleport spots, simple design loops, bland lighting, the same attack vectors of facing off enemies in a T-intersection once you open a door to a room, the same corridor-room-cave-outdoor themes sprinkled throughout with a dash of hellspots. I saw potential in the spider factory, but it too fell short of impressive. Obviously the author put great effort into this, but the maps seemed far too similar, stale, and stagnant for my tastes.

That's simply Descent's OPL bank I see. This and that are very alike. IMO

I must say what an excepcional WAD...i have been playing for quite some time and each level its an absolute masterpiece of design. I got till the level 30 and man...when you reach there you are absolutly tired of killing monsters...level 29 was my "enough" and when i got to level 30 it was like "ok...im done". Its absolute carnage in a good sense of way of course...but for me it was enough. Must say this is a kind of a map that ill take example for my mappings. 5 Stars to the wad because there is no more to give. I repeat, an excepcional Wad a brutal challenge on dificulty...simply great. Excelent Work !

The map looks great, but seeing multiple pictures of Jack making silly faces plastered everywhere in certain parts of the map can really kill the horror vibe.

The author utilized Dehacked. The wad is tough, can get very slaughter-ish and hectic sometimes, but it's fair. Also, the wad featured a pretty humorous story™. Check it out, but remember to play on HNTR/HMP if you aren't used to slaughterwads.
