About This File

As the name suggests, this level was the authors first serious attempt at creating a DOOM level from scratch. This level took a *long* time to make - not because of any great complexity, but because of the limited amount of time the authors could find together to work on it! (In fact a number of other WADS have been created during the design of this one!) Most of the usual stuff is included, tricks and traps and the like... and even a bit of texture and sound redefinition... Enjoy :-)

Incredibly fun midi helps you get through these plain rooms with obscure progression. But it's short and so the constant looping gets old after a while. At least there is enough action to not completely fall asleep.

This is a slightly better than bog-standard level from 1995, with a maddening emphasis on unmarked secrets. It has a goodly amount of baddies and action. The layout is complicated but boring, with simple details. You get the plasma gun early on, and loads of ammmo, so it's a piece of cake to finish. On the other hand, there is at least a progression, traps, a boss etc, and also some mild, well-hidden PVC lingerie fetish porn(!).

This certainly looks like a debut map. Lots of large rooms, mainly marble and E4 styled, some traps, some progression puzzles (nothing tough to figure out), lots of unmarked doors, heaves of ammo and powerups. Progression is very wierd, but the structure of the map is simple enough not to leave you lost. There's a wierd secret room with some pictures of semi-nude women. --2/5

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.

Conceptually not bad, it's a pretty imposing tower with some decent lighting, but no ammo at all despite having the guns and a VERY obscure way to rise up the floor in the lava pit? That's a big downer. But overall, it's ok.

Well, the map is pretty basic. The map is quite challenging, with there being 0 ammo pickups (excluding the backpack) outside of the starting room. There are also nazis for some reason. I will give it 2 stars only because this really wasn't meant to be played to be enjoyed, but rather just a example of how to build a map in DEU.
