About This File

10 levels for DOOMII! These are high quality levels, not just a bunch of boxy rooms with mismatched and unaligned textures. The levels include new sounds, new graphics, and all - new music! The final level puts you up against the most hideous monster you've ever seen: a hundred foot high picture of my face! For more info on what you'll find before you play, check out the "additional notes" section at the end of this text file. Enjoy! :

a small mapset consisting of 10 fun, short little maps that have you killing everything that moves and collecting keys to get to the exit. it's fairly easy by modern standards, but there's still some pretty nasty encounters (for me, at least). it looks pretty good for 1995, although that's to be expected considering that the author went on to make doom city later that same year

the only map i really didn't like was map09, which is mostly platforming on ledges in a void. it's a bit annoying, and the exit isn't entirely clear the first time around. other than that, there's no reason not to play this - it's pretty fun and takes at most an hour to play through.

Fast deathmatch single player action, and in the end you blast the author-of-sin. Original music.

Wow, suprisingly good. Design is very E1-ish (I noticed small chunks of original e1 maps, but it's not plagiarism, rather inspiration) with the exception of map9, which looks a bit like Pearson's nullspace.Maps are quick and not too hard, ammo and health is supplied in such large doses, that even packs of chainguys don't annoy you too much. Good design, flow and playability, splendid stuff. Play it now - it's good -- Brun Ohn

A pretty good small vanilla mapset from late 95. 4/5

This is one of the most entertaining WADS I have ever played. It provides enough ammo for you to execute some pretty powerful massacres but is also challenging enough so you have to keep your senses sharp. This unique WAD has a bizarre and clever two level ending as well. 5/5.

A fun little set of 1995 maps. Not legendary, but still great compared to the other stuff from that time. 4/5

Also named (by error?) Shams Young, he is also the author, after Slug Fest (oct 24, 1995) of: Torment (Nov 22, 1995) * Doom City (Dec 09, 1995) * Phobos - Relive The Nightmare (Feb. 10, 1996). All are of the same excellent quality. Shamus, you belongs to the legend of Doom!!! 4/5 is my note, but I give 5/5 for its old popularity - Jive

One of the best early Doom2 wads, the levels are
atmospheric and flow together extremely well. You
should probably check out the author's (Shamus
Young) other levels as well.

I agree with the previous vote, for 95' these maps are pretty good. The architecture is original, it's not squary, only lacks a little bit of details for nowadays standards. The gameplay is always very good and fun. Try it in coop with a mate !

A nice, little "kill-'em-all" episode from 1995 that provides a decent challenge on UV. It's a bit linear and underdetailed, but never boxy. The only bad part is that the last two levels suck. 4/5

First eight levels are quite good, clean designs that look good without overloading details, modern or tech styles, smallish and fun. The ninth map is an annoying void-tomb sort of thing that was rather tedious and weird, it felt like the worst aspects of "The Chasm". Experimental, I suppose, and possibly historic, seeing as this was before Quake and the emergence of the void genre there. The tenth level is a lame Icon-of-Sin alike with a cyberdemon behind the author's grinning mug shot.

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
