Pretty insubstantial, but charming nonetheless. It's basically a one-minute traipse through some large pitch-black corridors with ghostly wailing coming from everywhere. I'll admit there was a bit of tension when I walked into the dark room and didn't know what monsters were in there since all the sounds were replaced with that wailing but - spoiler alert - there are only Spectres in the level.

Otherwise, for its time, it's a pretty entertaining WAD for a minute and I like the narrative it's trying to tell.

Incredibly simple, really short, rough around the edges, and very unorthodox. Despite it not being much of anything, the level still managed to stick out enough for me to remember it among the countless other levels included on those D!Zone CD's. For such an early map the idea it is trying to convey is played out surprisingly well.

Just like the story text says, you fall down into Hell to grab some magical armor to escape with. The escape of course being a convenient blue skull inside the armor you need in order to open a lift out of the dark canyon you end up in. The fact that there are far too many spectres to actually kill does help lend to the need of urgency in getting out, combined with their new sounds and dark lighting. It really is a pretty interesting idea overall.

And unfortunately there isn't much to the map beyond this idea. You can finish it in a matter of minutes, with half of it falling down ledges and into teleports to simulate you going deeper into Hell. All of this of course combined with the typical issues of such early Doom maps (texture misalignment, simple and jagged sectors) leaves the actual game play much to be desired.

Overall it is an interesting way to execute a cool idea within vanilla Doom, although alone it is not nearly enough to justify a level. Would personally give it a 2.5 (rounded up to 3 for personal fondness) out of 5 considering you go into it with 1994-levels of expectations.

This is a fun level.well, more like a demonstration of effects back in 1994.even a mike use( that ghostly sound you hear) and falling effect is pretty cool. Also, putting blue armor with the blue key is pretty clever.Overall, short, yet entertaining.

It's cool and all, but after some time it became tedious. Liked the young Frankenstein clip

Jesus, this episode must be called "grim sense of boredom", because of humor i didn't find any, but i find a lot of boring! A LOT! Well, i just find a very short moment when i was chuckling out to the situation happening in E1M8 finding myself in a spiral of long lowering floors room, but maybe i just became insane. Over this short digression, this episode is BORING. I see that tries to be some sort of old school (is from 1994, dear anon reviewer, not 2012!) version of mock.wad or one of those parody of bad wads around the archive since doom modding scene day one. But instead of jumping the ugly garbage train that are these kinds of maps, is for the major part a pretty basic  series of large, boring, almost navigable STARTAN3 mazes with some nice ideas and few nice rooms spruced all around the episode and some really asshole ideas like 2 trap rooms in 2 different levels (E1M4 and E1M8) that are a just a little room with some type of useful stuff like health and ammo, once you enter in you are trapped from a one-way closing door without any way to escape from it expect cheating... but over these few moments, is pretty boring stuff. I suppose to deserve a trophy just for finish this. Go play something else.   BEST: ....E1M6 is kinda nice WORST: E1M8 is bullshit

It's been a while since I played Bioshock but I could still recognize some of the iconic locations. Seeing Bioshock's scripted sequences reinterpreted for Doom was fun. The enemy layout feels mostly like an afterthought, though.

Not really that funny, and not particularly fun.

This WAD hasn't really aged well. The gameplay isn't particularly interesting and the levels rely too much on over-using ZDoom features. The new sound effects are annoying, and the announcer's endless chatter on map04 gets downright infuriating. The ending levels are disappointing, especially the final battle which can be over in seconds. That said, the detailing looks nice in some levels.
