About This File

If you haven't finished the complete version of Heretic yet, then you will probably find this WAD hard; because, I've used a lot of monsters from the last 2 Eposodes. Sorry, no dm (deathmatch) starts.

If you can't get into the secret areas of Level 9, don't despair, I've included a hint at the end if this document!

This is one of the first user made Heretic episodes. It's got nine levels, though their quality is Wolf3D-like with maze layouts and generally flat. Still, the pacing is great, with nonstop combat and stuff changing around as you progress, and I really liked the quest for the secret exit, so it gets 4/5.

One maze level among others is fine. An entire episode of maze levels is boring. The episode seems to be played as a whole, as later levels don't give all the primary weapons, and the first one give away all the weapons of the game... The levels are too easy, even by starting them from scratch I could finish them either only with the crossbow, or in a pacifist way. E1M6 and E1M9 seems unfinishable (no way to progress), and in a couple levels keys are hidden in secrets. Can't go beyond 0/5. ~Naan

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
