About This File

The DEATH STAR!!! Based on blueprints of a set built for the movie and as well as information contained in the SW RPG. This level includes the chasm Luke and Leia swang across, the elevators Luke, Han, and Chewie entered on their way to the detention level (sorry, these don't work, I ran out of sectors), and the large corridor with the blast doors. The blueprints covered 1/6 of the level, so I had to make up the rest. This is probably the first of many Star Wars levels I will do, and I will eventually replace this level's textures with my own.

Ok, but you'd better download SW Doom 2: http://www.doomworld .com/idgames/index.p hp?id=9761

To hell with all the "For its time"s! Is there a randomly damaging floor that's meant to be a pit? Yes. Are there misaligned LITE3s? Yes. But even for today's standards, it looks fantastic. No wonder it got its own page in a 1994 gaming magazine. Check out a runthrough on YouTube (not by me).

vintage map, too many secret sectors and annoying lifts though. also I was hoping there'd be some custom graphics seeing how this is Star Wars oriented.

This is an ancient level, released a few months after Dark Forces. It uses stock textures but replicates the Death Star feel quite well, complete with blast doors and familiar-looking scenery. It's impressively large, non-linear (and non-square) for such an old level, running on vanilla Doom. The gameplay is only so-so, because there's a lot of aimless wandering about and it's very repetitive, but this is nonetheless an early classic.

Apparently, it runs on Skulltag if you put MAP e1m1 into the console. Good for it's time.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
