Some of the maps are pretty bad (MAP12, MAP25) but all the good fun levels boost this up to 5/5

The best megawad ever? Quite possibly. Although it does have a few duds, MAP12 and MAP25 in particular, and some of the levels are buggy, especially when it comes to all the secrets being accessible, this WAD is packed with some of the best maps ever made. MAP03, MAP07, MAP09, MAP15, MAP18, MAP21, MAP23, MAP27, MAP28, and MAP32 are what Doom is all about. If you haven't played this, do so now. 5/5

Probably the most played & wellknown megawad compiled. For its time, this was quality, today its mediocre at best. Objectively it was never that great, but the level of quality have always been low, so it still holds up to mediocrity. Gameplay is fun enough in a few maps, simply because the game dosnt require more than ammo in abundance and scattered targets, to grant some fun. 3/4 stars, partly because of its position as -the- classic. -Johnsen

This is trully a classic. Back in the days of it's creation it was unbellievably well executed, especially knowing that it took only about 5 months to create and, just as the reviewer below stated, unlike most of it's peers it holds extremely well today. Some of the maps are brilliant. My favorite is map21, but there are also others like map28, map02, map07, map08, map09, map17, map13, map20 etc. that are trully classic. This is something i'd care to play twice.

An ugly, confusing mess. Easily the worst of the old 'classic' megawads I've played so far. Maybe I should be playing it in co-op but I can't imagine that it would be radically improved.

Just a classic, nothing much else to say, quality does vary like any wad with multiple authors, but the majority of the levels are great.

An automatic five, not only does this still play pretty well but it was possibly THE wad that revolutionized Doom designing.

5/5 Great gameplay. Early levels ease you in, later levels are quite tough. New textures make these maps POP and interesting switch puzzles are intuitive enough and rewarding enough to keep you engaged. The fact that it's super-optimized for Coop just another cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. -KMX E XII

And while I continue to put my name on anything I say or do most others seek the safe shelter of anonymity. This set of maps is famous for a reason: it's damn good. --Herculine

This one is theeeeeee best. Great levels and music. Gave it 5 stars cause it's pretty old by now, so it now deserves the "legendary" title ^^.

This is one of the all-time 5 greatest, alongside its successor Memento Mori 2, Requiem, Alien Vendetta, and Hell Revealed. It was also one of the first megawads to focus on co/op play. Yes, it is aged, but the overall quality of the maps is still amazingly high. I regard some of these maps as among the very best ever made, period. Almost nothing is as classic in the long history of Doom as Memento Mori. If you haven't yet, play it through (perhaps with a friend!) and be pleasantly surprised. --5/5

I played this many years ago and I loved it. Now I have played it again. Unfortunately I found there some bugs here and there and logic of some maps were quite chaotic. It is wonderful megawad and it was a gem in its time. In my opinion after all the years it lost some magic. 4/5 - Damned

Kinda dull on single player... and I don't consider myself a real badass Doomer, either.

One of the Doom calssics. Some maps obviously seem a bit aged these days, but for early 1996 these levels are incredible. While its sequel, MM2, and the ultimate succesor, Requiem have overtaken in, this is certainly a classic and even today, its still pretty nice. A 5/5 is given, partly for its incredible classic status alone.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.
