About This File

DIABOLOS = Greek word for the devil. This level will test your awareness and of course, pit you to survive in many different and confusing 3 Dimensional environments. As you explore the complex of chambers and sewers, you'll find that areas are organized in an intelligent composition. when you see a bloodfall, you can track it to its source. Areas provide visual clues as to what's ahead and what's living there (eg)

DIABOLOS is intended to be very difficult and extremely challenging for even the finest of movers. Ammunition and health are sparring so make every dodge and weave count as if it were your last.

not bad, somewhat difficult sometimes due to teleporting monsters but good reflexes prove that this is a fun, decent map.

Wasn't impressed by this map. I know it touts itself as being extremely difficult, but I didn't find it too hard on Ultra Violence. The map's difficulty stems from constantly putting you in very cramped locations, and often teleporting monsters right behind you. This is just annoying more than anything. Ammo is stricter than it should be, but if you make an effort to use your fists on most of the Pinky demons, then you should be okay.

The replacement sound effects are all highly irritating and often make no sense. Why do the Chaingunners sound like they're firing shotguns at me? Why does my pistol sound like it's farting? Why aren't some of the locked doors properly labelled?

Not recommended.

Fun level from '96. The architecture has a nice natural feeling to it unlike other wads from the time. Make sure you save ammo in the beginning by causing infighting, because those Pain Elementals forced me to restart. 4.5/5

Try this map out; its design is original carefully done, and it plays well.

This is from April 1996. It's a small, intricate level with a lot of close-in fighting. It's well designed and fun to play, although it's a shame there wasn't more ammo; the toughest baddies are pain elementals, not because they're killers, but because the lost souls eat up your ammo. There's a good hard bit with the red key, but again the lack of ammo is extremely frustrating. Just as you're getting into the groove, you have to run back and scrabble for shells.

(http://liandri.beyo ndunreal.com/Myscha_ the_Sled_Dog, he made Bluff eversmoking, the temple/water levels). The author didn't use the lightweight concrete or superstone hence the supporting arches and walls. The scale (and material use) is realistic. Being cramped and health/ ammo being tight makes this very hard to finish in a first run and hard overall. This (+ the other one) level is designed from 3D which sets it apart from almost all others. But doom isn't 3D, 5/5 because the author is, coldfusio.

Good map. BTW, the author later worked for Epic in Unreal.

Horrible and unenjoyable, it's what I can say about this megawad.  Does it really need to be archviles and cyberdemons in every corner and tight corridors, ambushing with nowhere to go?  Yes, textures are very monotonous, and you got corridor after corridor with same floor/ceiling height.  It's extremely annoying to hunt for that switch that will let you continue, and, surprise!  They're hidden inside the walls without being secrets and no hints where to look for, even with ALLMAP cheat you get lost very easily

Not quite as bad as some other comments said, for an old wad anyway. Playable but easy at UV. Some poor texture alignments, nearly all brightly lit, no atmosphere. New sounds are mostly cranky but I liked the machine gun. The voice sounds the same as in "Wild West Of The North" - WEST.WAD which was by Mike Lasota and which also has cranky (but different again) sounds.

Boring tosh. Long narrow passages packed with hundreds of demons to grind through with a chainsaw. Might as well work in a bacon factory.  Gave up after checking the map to see if there was anything more than carving demons. There wasn't.

It has done what the creations intentions were; to create a substantially different feel and perspective on doom.   I'm not the sort of person to say "keep it up" nor "encore" but your wad does jump out from the thousands of typical hell and techbase levels. I personally like to keep my typical "masculine wads" masculine, but it does look alot different from the usual doom mods. Sort of like that "youtube-friendly" doom wad yet unironic and serious.   The content itself is very lacking as if you were supposed to enjoy the wad like it was a gulp of water. All you can do is pet the dog thing and water the plants. You could go up the steps but they just lead back down.    The style of the wad is vastly contrasted with our usual wads, resorting towards handdrawn and crayola drawings and if needed, ameteaur ms paint drawings added onto that. The author/illustrator has cleary shown that she/he/xe/they/A.H. doesn't demonstrate professional skill on the likes of eviternity, so they taken the route of making everything childlike to mask their lack of drawing to promote a child game.    I usually expect something like this from either a father making a small wad game for his little daughter or that apple advertisement wamyn that casually says "Whats a computer?".    I cant find any aspect to improve upon this due to it's jarring identity in contrast to the typical fps "masculine" wads out there.

Possibly my favorite Ultimate Doom megawad. Although its first half feels like DTWID, it quickly becomes a much more twisted and demented take on the familiar techbase/hell aesthetic. Expect well hidden secrets, tight corridors, and some tough encounters in large, complex levels. In keeping with Ult Doom's tone, NaturalTvventy layers the atomphere on thick to create levels that feel genuinely hostile and evil, even more so than in the original.    If you have a soft spot in your heart for the original Ultimate Doom, this megawad is a must play. NEIS makes you realize how rock solid the original Doom formula is, even without the SSG and revenants.
