About This File

Ultimately a Level for the single player. BUT !!!! Also is good for Deathmatch, and co op. Great for 4 player, although I have never played more than two. :( Lots of nice little spots to stand back, and realise just how beatiful DOOM really is. The Reason I don't add all my levels together is because, there single levels, single ideas. I name them AXE, because you will know there from me. STORY You arrive early to the Starbase out on the far reaches of the explored Galaxy, In sector 777. Having been sent here, to investergate the First and only Worm hole. You are at the least to say, excited. Unbeknowinced to you, the "Worm hole", is really a rip in Dimentional space. Providing a gateway to a Place that wasn't meant to be investergated. Let alone Destroyed. !!!!!

Interesting map overall with some annoying moments like narrow bridges, inescapable death pits and kind of confusing layout (i had to noclip in some parts cause i didn't knew where to go or why doors can't open). But overall, good medium/hard map.

The first of the AXE series uploaded to /idgames, it appears, and the looks do reveal that in the very beginning. Texturing starts off with monotonous stone all over the place, and then the theme continually shifts throughout. The gameplay, however, is a good notch above the subsequent AXE5, with the highlight being the numerous clever uses of teleporters to catch the player off guard (the outdoor battle is particularly memorable!). Given that, I had enough fun to play it again. Good stuff. 7/10 - Snakes

This is dated June 1996. It's part of the author's long-forgotten AXE series, which was generally good. This is a solid although unsubtle stone techbase in which you fight 304 baddies. Despite the monster count it's no Hell Revealed. It could have been hard, but you have loads of ammo, and the monsters are spread out; there are some good traps near the end but the secret BFG is silly. It's a good example of a level that would benefit from a modern revision.

In early 2014, in the more innocent landscape BTSX hadn't fully colonized, Memfis invested his quirky energy in making enjoyable maps rather than LARPing as a forum villain. You could say he yakfaked himself before he bzzraked himself.   In Continue, barrels and rockets and plasma -- plus the overpowered SSG -- make for a satisfying five-minute lark through a utility plant. Monsters are skillfully placed for pure satisfaction. The visuals are oldschool, from the Kama Sutra era, and later progression is cool: you parkour like a goat over features that initially seem decorative, and the final area can be accessed in two different, involved ways.

In case you're wondering who James Collins is, he is best known by his username, an_mutt. (Or maybe he is the front and opposable thumbs for his dog who does the actual mapping.)    Recurring Nightmare has good craftsmanship -- not just "for a speedmap" either. It felt like a low-detail Mechadon map: the offbeat angular geometry is there, as is the architecture that wraps and overlaps, all dressed in synergistic combos of stock textures. Gameplay is short and sharp, 50 monsters, generally a handful at a time, in smart choreographed traps that pin you in tight spaces with weapons just about good enough. It is harsh and to the point.    One clear misstep is the cleaned-up automap. [:^) Kappa :smiley_cat: etc.]

Yukio Ide was always a kind of interesting oddball to me, he made these weird maps filled with sound clips and low res anime pics from 90s bbs(mostly evangelion and Ah! My Godness! over some other unknown anime), but it have always some sort of "happy-go-lucky" that is unusual in a game like doom. Oh, and lots of crosses in the maps. But overall, his maps are enjoyable to me, for some reason. And this "love wad" to his waifu Belldandy is no expection! Level is short, colorful and have a way too happy music in it, overall is not that bad, but neither a great, amazing wad. Things like the million secrets (included in some rooms that aren't that secret, 2 secret rooms are behind a normal door! WTF?) in the map, the pretty bland looking map, that strange audio clip for the pistol shot (yes, the pistol have this audio clip almost unheareable phrase taken from the Ah! My Godness! anime that is just... weird and plain irritating, and the sound compression made it sound like gibberish) and the "love wad" affair, like other reviewers behind my time, is a strange thing to show your love with a wad where you kill people... Is like if i do a wad called "I love you Yohane" and make a slaughtermap filled with low res pictures of mai waifu for giving me courage or whatever, is just a weird and even kind of creepy thing to do. But the status bar graphics is pretty nice imo! I could even take it and change the colors of writing from pink to a more reddish tint... Is cool to have a japanese written status bar at your side, i think.

Short map (maybe one of his first?) made by Impie, the Robocop Doom and many other combos you have played in these years, including that wad based upon Lovercraftian universe (i don't remember the name now), this a short affair sets in this rocky canyon with some hellish sections. Texturing reminds me of TNT. Layout is pretty and there's some minor, very simple "speedrunning" trickery you have to do for passing trough the map, difficulty is not hard but takes you to the edge. Not bad.
