About This File

Redrum is a rather large file, over 300k. For some reason beyond my comprehension DOOM will not let you save your game while playing Redrum.wad, so you better be pretty good at doom! Also may I suggest that you run doom with your "messages on". This is the only way you will know if and what key you will need to open a locked door for I have not color coded them (I just didn't like the look of em' in my level) I have included Deathmatch starts in this level but I did not design the level for it. The level is so expansive you might never find each other. I think there is a nice mix of monsters, amo, and first aid in the level. If you think it is too hard or too easy you may add or delet amo and health to suit your needs (I don't mind). I have also hidden my secret doors very well, and you may have to use more of a "Wolfenstein" approach to find them. Have fun!

Big map, high demon-count, ammo tight, monster traps, unmarked doors. Don’t understand the reference to The Shining. I really like it.

Quite a decent and apparently well regarded early Doom map. Almost 300 enemies on UV, but not too difficult by today's standards. Visually okay, though a bit spartan with plenty of plain white walls etc. There's also a Doom 2 conversion of this (Redrum2.wad) which can be found on some of those 94/95 CD compilations, but it's somewhat disappointing - no revenants, mancubuses or archviles, even on UV difficulty.

pretty cool for 1994, although some areas look like shit and it's overall too symmetrical. still on the whole it's a **** map, considering its age. -sargebaldy fyi the author of this wad mapped for RTCW and is mapping for "Doom III"

4/5 It's a nice big semi-nonlinear map with plenty of decent traps. The action never gets too intense. The biggest strike I can level against it is the presence of mandatory secrets, which given that they're rarely if ever hinted at, drag the speed of the map down. Still, most of them are stuffed in between gaps a la Wolf3d. All in all, I enjoyed it. - KMX E XII

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
