The internet -and japanese randomness- pwed j00. Ph34r. And now let's go watch a JAPANESE St.Patrick parade and then vent in an entirely random JAPANESE Nazi-chic disco.

what the shit? the sounds were really annoying and the new graphics replacements were useless. This wad would have been a 0/5 but instead gets 1/5 only because "Fly me to the moon" was the music for MAP01.

In response to #3, Doom was known in Japan in the 90's, there are old Japanese DM wads on the archive. There are pictures of anime girls all over the walls and there are some weird-ass SFX, but the map isn't nearly as bad as some reviews might lead you to believe. Just nothing special.

I have always wondered if there is a parallel Doom community in Japan that we never hear about in the West. Or did the PC never take off as a games platform over there? In which case Doom would be just an obscure old console title to them. This level is basically an unexceptional deathmatch arena with lots of cartoon textures and sounds (the chuckle when you press a wall made me smile). As a single-player level it does not have top happy gamefun alpha X.

ah, that jazz music. You know, I think that the story is relating to soldiers and their coping w/ the doping. I heard jazz music in the military recruiting center too. lol ~5/5!

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
