About This File

DOOM95.EXE will work with any DOOM or DOOM2 main wadfile.

With DOOM95, you no longer need to keep your main wads in seperate directories. Copy all main wad files (DOOM.WAD, DOOM2.WAD, PLUTONIA.WAD, TNT.WAD, etc) to the DOOM95 directory and launch DOOM95. To play, choose the appropriate wad file from the launcher and then start the game.

I got this with Final Doom when I bought that, and it was so crappy that I rather played in Dos on low res. 1/5 Kristus

It's not the wad, it's the port. The port sucks.

Downright unforgettable, but obsolete now. When it comes down to the classic keyboard experience, Doom95 deals this in spades (if works that is). You can fix that with a mouse patch nowadays I believe. The Doom95 loading screen is something outta this world. Cyberdemon, bunny, Baron of Hell, Cacodemon, Giant Red Number 95, and yours truly. Haha.. *grumble* 'nuff said. Use something else if you want to record demos.

Great but I always thought there should be a mode to start DOOM normally without selecting your own level but hey what the hell

Very retro, I'll say that. I kind of like it how you can pick whatever level you want to play on.

The best port for users who want something that is closer to vanilla doom than chocalate doom but cannot run the original .exe because of a new computer. I also like the frontend with level and game select, except for the fact that you can only load up one custom file when playing.

This is the version of Doom that I played when I was 4. The little differences between this version and the original DOS build tickle my nostalgia bone a bit. Also, this port was headed by gaben the great, so it has that going for it too.

A Win32 version of the original DOOM.EXE but it still has its share of problems the original has, with the exception of a slightly increased visplane limit. There are better ports out there that fix the engine problems. -Mr. Chris

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
