If you're looking for varied visuals, this isn't for you, but it's pretty great if you're in the mood for some exploration and key hunts. Some levels could use a better song than the stock iwad tunes. Minor touches, like new monsters or fog that moves around, are cool.

Pretty good for it's time, despite being unfinished. Still worth playing for the gameplay which is good. Make sure you load both wads and the deh.

Yeah...it's never really going to be finished, despite whatever jokes are circulating, sad. :( But that doesn't mean you should deprive yourself of one of the most impressive episodes of the era. Six well designed levels, each has plenty of thought put into it, they're all fun to play, and they all stick to that cohesive brown medieval theme. So just load just all the wad files and the deh with a modern source port, and have some fun with what actually was done!

I will tell you a secret. There is no such project as Mordeth anymore. It's a running joke. Yes, there was a plan to make a sequel but it's long-forgotten now.

Those complaining about "hanging corpses" should perhaps consider to actually install this add-on properly. The original WAD is not compatible with source ports. Either read the installation notes, or download the alternative archive (mfb97dsf.zip, available from Mordeth TC site) which can be played with a source port.

I can't wait for the full version. With all I've read on the site, like It will have many authors, this 1st episode (which already kicks major ass) will be greatly revised, it will have extreme detail, architecture, massive levels, theming, is intended to give a whole set of WORLDS to explore, some maps in hubs, moving vehicled, kickass GP, and tons of other port enhancements, it sure sounds to may like it may be the ALL TIME BEST WAD, and maybe that BY FAR aswell!!!

This is a pretty fun wad with good design. To anyone who has trouble with getting the wad with special effects just download the 97 version.

An excellent project. Absolutely NO reason not to play unless you believe that Mordeth will actually be finished. I don't. And even if it does someday get released, you might as well play this anyway, because you'll probably remember next to nothing about these maps by the time it does - even if you have a good memory. Time will tell. 5/5 -Brandon D. Lade

It's good, but is someone willing to explain me why is this considered to be a TOTAL CONVERSION?! I mean total conversions are wads like hell to play... not this one.

Barely above average wad. Hanging corpses impede movement and are annoying with enemies present. Level design is good, with interesting atmosphere and gameplay. Short, so try if you only want to commit a little time. Sunglasses on Sarge look cheesy. 3/5

Pretty darn good set of levels in medieval city style, with lots to explore. Superb dehacked work. m01 is a bit bland and boring. m07 sucks.

      Superb firework display of thousands of fireballs seeming in slow motion because of the vastness - mostly avoidable as they land where you were ages ago; but worth playing just to see it. A HUGE square surrounded by tiers with hundreds of imps and a few others, plus a blockhouse you can enter first to collect ammo.  Fighting through the hundreds of monsters when you get onto the tiers is another matter, overwhelming at UV. I cheated to finish so at least I could review.  Some HOM bugs.

      Insanity, with voodoo dolls (see second screenshot).  I get the idea of a shooting gallery if that rocks your boat, but 6000 monsters behind railings- as far as the eye can see, FFS! My PC crawled when I looked towards the invuln spheres (someone said 32 k of them and you can't avoid picking up thousands at a time). In the end I cheated with god mode and no-clipping, and waded in among the chaingunners until I got bored.

      Simple, clearly a first wad.  All on the flat with big, brightly lit, and architecturally implausible rooms. The first map has two rooms, the second map one, and the third map one plus a kind of exit lobby. You can do one of two things - just run past the monsters and finish (I did it in 35 seconds), or have a bit of fun killing the monsters first. No noticable bugs. I hope the author will go on (or went on) to greater things.
