About This File

An absolute pain in the ( enter word of your choice here ) to finish due to the savegame memory limit in the doom2.exe file. I did this on a p120 with 32 meg and just got it within the limit but 50% of the time it still hangs the command.com when you exit the game so you will probably have to reboot. When playing the level, there are some parts that may seem hard to get to. They CAN be done. It is not a result of duff level design.

Great map, although a few misalignments here and there. Very clearly inspired by Quake. **** -sargebaldy

Thanks for this. It's excellent. A real stinker. It gave me a good run for my money. Really enjoyed the difficulty. Do more. It should have five stars but you know people.

Good map. The author used less pronounced light variation to instead use sectors to make arched halls, and managed a pretty big level. Play felt more traditional than but not as challenging as the author's first map (hellhole, id=5997), as on my second try (I died earlier) I ended with a bucket-load of energy cells, some other ammo and over 100 health and armor, playing from scratch. It played fine with Doom2 v1.9. ~Chain Mail [3/5] (01/2009)

This is a castle level, big for its time but mid-sized by modern standards. The design has lots of blank empty areas, but it doesn't look bad, and there's some nice airy lighting effects. It's an entertaining level, with some tough action and not much ammo; I had to punch out an arch-vile at one point. Lots of switch puzzles but they did not irritate me. As another reviewer points out, it's Quake-ish, although much brighter and more colourful (and fun).

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
