Music : Nine Inch Nails : A Warm Place (circa Halo 08)
Map01 : Entryway
DM Starts : Eight
Music : Nine Inch Nails : Ruiner (circa Halo 08)
Description : After falling in battle to the demonic hordes which threaten
humankind, you wake to find yourself armed with only your wits
and high-tech high-calibre weaponry in an old abandoned UAC
outpost; the death throes of a damaged power generator filling
the ears of both you and your opponents, whom you recognize as
marines who have obviously betrayed humanity and work now for
it's eventual demise as puppets of the hellspawn...
Map02 : The Underhalls
DM Starts : Four
Music : Nine Inch Nails : Head Like a Hole (circa Halo 02)
Description : You are now just to the east of your last battlesite and have
decided to take shelter in a conveniently located drainage
system, thinking it best to protect yourself from the nearing
destruction of the abandoned outpost's crippled power source.
Unfortunately, your opponents had the same idea and the intense
violence begins anew...
Map03 : The Gantlet : The Killing Floor
DM Starts : Six
Music : Nine Inch Nails : Last (circa Halo 05)
Description : The carnage thus far has been brutal and your will to fight has
been drained. Choosing no longer to flee from your pursuers,
you decide to make a temporary stand in a nearby military
installation, which you immediately dub "the killing floor".
You now notice that, strangely enough, your opponents are not
simply targeting you but also fighting amongst themselves for
reasons unknown. Have they been doing that the whole time? Yes,
you say to yourself with dawning realization, they most
Map04 : The Focus : The Fount of Power
DM Starts : Seven
Music : Nine Inch Nails : Dead Souls (via The Crow soundtrack)
Description : Legend has it that those who can control the fount and focus
it's energies can become powerful beyond belief. Legend also
has it that the fount is capable of summoning up mighty demonic
guardians to defend itself from desecrators such as yourself.
You realize that if you wish to tame the wild powers before you
then you had best hurry, as it seems that the hellish chanting
which echos through the ancient halls is becoming more and more
feverish, as is your opponents' attempts at seizing control of
Map05 : The Waste Tunnels
DM Starts : Seven
Music : Nine Inch Nails : Down In It (circa Halo 02)
Description : It has become apparent now that you and your opponents are no
more then the playthings of some demonic mastermind, as each
time you die you are rebirthed in a painless excercise of the
mind. You can no longer go on like this. Flee and fight, fight
and flee...what is the use? This is it, you decide. The final
confrontation. In this scenario, you have laid an ambush in a
desolate sewer system and the dripping of water rings through
the stench-filled air. Dark, gloomy, and horrid...the perfect
killing ground, you think to yourself, absolutely perfect...
AmberX1.WAD is a compilation of the first five levels in the Amber series,
which was designed with nothing in mind but to provide the ultimate DOOM2
DeathMatching experience and the sheer enjoyment of players all around the
world. Every level present in this package was built from scratch and is the
product of an overactive caffiene enhanced imagination. All five levels
provide plenty of action with only two players, whereas four player matches
are nonstop fragfests. Playability of all five levels has been maximized due
to extensive debugging and playtesting. Also, be sure to play with monsters
on, otherwise the special ambient sounds which have been implemented will go
unheard. Difficulty settings have been applied with the following layout:
sKill 1/2/3: DeathMatch v2.0 (all weapons present)
sKill 4/5: DeathMatch v1.0 (all weapons present)
Monsters are placed strategically in unaccessable areas of the maps so that
they will lend their "voices" to the playing fields without being able to
interfere, either physically or visually. As mentioned above, monsters are a
necessity in order for the special ambient sound effects to be heard.
Authors may *NOT* use any or all of AmberX1.WAD as a base to build additional
levels. You *MAY* distribute AmberX1.WAD in any electronic format, provided
that you include this file intact and with no modifications. Thank you.
