About This File

Hell Revealed is a megawad, a 32-level replacement for DooM II, created by Yonatan Donner and Haggay Niv.

In Hell Revealed, you will find: 32 new high-quality very detailed levels, many new graphics including textures, flats, skies, status bars and others, full skill-level support and additional attention to coop-players, and extreme challenge.

Hell Revealed supports single player, cooperative (with additional weapons and enemies) and several maps have special DM parts (maps 1 and 2 are especially good for deathmatch).

shit wad! hard levels, not cool new graphics (except the hud bar, looks good). i give this 1/5 for effort but it could have been 2/5 but i don't care. sorry for people who liked it. for me it's not good as other megawads.

A 5 is an absolute given for this one. What it lacks in atmosphere it certainly makes up with that "actioney" feeling through the maps. Besides, I really kinda doubt that Yonatan Donner designed these things with the atmospheric intent anyway. As I said, sure it's not strong in atmosphere, but it is cetainly fun-as-hell to play. 5/5 -Eisenfaust

By today's standards, HR is really not that difficult anymore. In my opinion, WADs like Alien Vendetta, Scythe 2, and its very own sequel HR2 managed to surpass this one in terms of toughness. The first 6 levels are quite easy even on HMP, and the whole WAD shouldn't be a problem for any experienced players on the easier difficulty settings. Although HR looks very aged now, it will always be a classic wad, since this is the one that "started it all" back in 1997.

Wow, they wern't joking when they said this wad is super tough. Map 13 is notable for looking very simple, but you'll spend almost an eternity fighting for your life as you grab each key. Also, there's a ball crushing archvile & revenant ambush right at the beginning that you don't want to run away from or else Archie will start respawing all those barons you killed. That was an awesome trap that makes for a spectacular teleport ambush. Highly recommended.

Just beautiful. I admired Levels 24 and on from afar for years before I was finally able to afford a modern computer and therefore play the whole thing without my processor choking on all the monsters or the savegame buffer crashing the whole thing.

For people who solely want to use it as a measure of how many CDs and AVs they can take down, not a problem. But for people who liked the original maps for their creepiness and tension, it's disappointing. Everything is bright, scares are done with numbers not atmosphere. If you die, you physically can't progress with just the pistol. Ok if you just want enemies and no fear, but bear in mind that although nothing succeeds like excess, boredom tends to set in pretty soon after that. 3/5 PS: Kill the music

A great megawad, I prefer this to HR2. Fun in vanilla settings, doesn't need any extra mods or whatever. In the words of Nathan Explosion, "It's good on it's own."

There is a difference between making something hard and making something infuriatingly annoying and repetetive. Using only the BFG and SSG just to get the many thousands of higher level monsters out of the way of very important 64 unit-wide corridors full of revenants is like a chore. In fact, this has recemented my hatred for revenants and their astronomically unfair homing missiles that can trace you miles into a winding cave. The undodgeable arch-vile turrets suck ass as well.

Aw. This wad has some cool levels, but there are much, much better wads out there. In each level, there are hundreds of monsters, and it's so difficult it makes the wad mediocre and boring to play. It's really TOO HARD. Maybe some other players might say i'm a wuss or a noob or something like that, but i don't care, it's my opinion. Get it only if you want a challenge. 3 stars cuz it has some good levels and cuz i don't to be too harsh. ~Rocky XIII, a French Doomer

Pretty great classic playing. THE wad that inspired it's own style of Doom Playing, anyone who sees an HR-style map is paying tribute to this wad. I managed to survive on UV to Map24 before I had to give up. I should try HR2 again sometime to see how far I can get on UV there before giving up too. Regardless, automatic 5 stars for being legendary.

The toughest megawad I have yet played. I found it harder than Alien Vendetta. But, don't let that discourage you from downloading and playing. This megawad is a right of passage for a true Doom player and it was mostly fun, but some of the levels were pure dick-hole. Dick tested, cock approved!

This wad essentially started the style of gameplay we now call "slaughter". The difference is, this is a lot more balanced than many slaughter wads of today; and retains the classic status it has achieved. The difficulty on UV is quite extreme, but when it is this fun, you will want to continue! This classic deserves the full 5 star treatment. -TRRobin.

Well, maybe the design or architecture of some maps is not up to some other stuff, but there are quite a number of good levels here (some of which include 11, 18, 24, 26, 14, 13, etc.), but the gameplay in number one which all it's difficulty, balance, and endless challenges! Like it!

Nice level design, can't floor it really. This wad is stuplidly hard (like Av.wav), in Coop you get tired of dying every 10 seconds. Must there be a Cyberdemon on every level?

How can this have only 4.5 stars? Absolutely perfect for a soon 8 year old megawad. ;) Great gameplay, good balance for skill levels, and all around a permanent favorite for me. Especially when co-oping :D 5/5 -DooMerPS

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
